Poll: Where do your parents live?
I am just trying to see what the norm is for people our parents age. Are they staying in NY with the taxes and expenses, or leave?

Dad is here, renting an apt and working.
Mom moved to Arizona, bought a house and still works.
They are both too young to retire.

My mom downsized when we got engaged and my brother had kids. She will move south with us eventually when we go, but wont leave while my grandma (who is 80) is around making us all batty.

My parents recently moved to a condo on LI...they also have a house in Florida, and the house I grew up in is on the market...

My parents are both 63 ... my dad still lives in the apt in Queens I grew up in and my mom lives in South Carolina and has for the past four years or so.

My parents are older and have been retired for years.
They live in Ireland and when I moved to the US (my sister also lives here) they moved from Dublin to the South East Coast. They didn't downsize, but they got alot more for their money and were able to buy a house FL for the Winter - they're snowbirds that travel far!

My parents till live in NY...My dad is 56 and my mom is 52, both too young to retire yet.
My mom wants to move to Chicago in a yr or so to be closer to my kids. My dad wants to buy a place in Fla, so he's thinking they'll split their time between Fla and Chicago.

My parents sold the house that my grandfather built and bought the same size house (a huge split) in Wantagh. They have a lot of stuff...lol..

My mom is still in the house we moved to from Wisconsin in 1978. She's 69 and will never move. She entertains her 8 kids, 4 SILs, 2 DILs and 9 grandchildren pretty frequently.  There's no way we'd all fit into an apartment.
MIL lives in Tampa. Thank God!

My mom says she doesn't think they can stay here more than 5 years. I'm saddened by that.

My mom still lives in our original house, but plans to sell in the next few years. Just trying to fix it up a bit now. Her mortgage will be paid off in 3 months so she's looking forward to that!

My dad is in his original house. It just happens to be pretty handicapped accessible so we have no plans for him to move.
My IL's are in the same house. They aren't going anywhere.
