poll: While TTC - did you tell friends/family

DH and I were discussing this recently. Just curious how many of you told your friends/family that you are actively TTC.

I am a relatively private person, and I dont want to tell my mom, in-laws or friends that we are TTC. I just want to keep it between DH and I. DH on the otherhand, feels like he wants to tell our friends and anyone else. I just dont want our business put out there like that. I am not an uptight person, I think for me, this is a private thing between us.

I also dont want to hear every month from family 'anything yet??' 'how's it going?' 'maybe something's wrong' and all the other nagging commentary.

I recently heard a friend of mine's mom who was almost more actively involved in her daughter TTC that she was. She was calling to remind her of her cycle and when to BD.

I told my mom and only a couple of friends like 3 maybe?

People at work ask me ALL THE TIME if Im preggo... its soooooooo annoying!!

DH told everyone when we got married we would try right away. uhhh

I have told my closet friends and my family.

We are on our 9th month of trying and I almost feel like it helps that people know we are trying because now they dont keep asking us if im pregnant! The know we are trying and they know we will tell them when it happens.

Some family members and close friends know, as well as a few people at work. When we started having issues (which was basically right off the bat ) I found it helped to tell some people what we were going through. My boss knows because I sometimes I have to leave early for monitoring appts with the RE and I didn't want them to think there was something seriously medically wrong because I was always asking to leave early to see a doctor.

told some of my gf that are pregnant or have kids. have not told my family at all

We haven't told anyone- TTC is stressful enough without people asking us if we are PG yet

I haven't told any family. Maybe four people at most know.. we've been ttc for over a year and i don't want people to ask questions...which ultimately will make me upset

Only 2 close friends know, neither one of our families...
we really want to surprise them with the news of the BFP...

I told my mom and one of my closest friends. I don't really want to talk about it with many people, but I needed someone other than DH to vent to. He is as frustrated as I am (I wasn't even allowed to TTC for almost a year, and now that I am it isn't going so well) so I didn't want to always burden him when I just needed to vent.

In terms of family, only my mom knows.
And 2 of my girlfriends know.

It's hard being around others who don't know. This weekend one of my friends who recently had a child kept saying, "just have a baby!" (As if it's that easy!) I just had to grin and bear it.

A few people know. My immediate family, one of my cousins because she's also trying and just started meds and my Dad blabbed to her that I'm on meds too, 3 friends, and 3 coworkers. At first I didn't want anyone knowing, but it's actually helpful to me. One of my coworkers went through IF treatments so she has been very helpful with advice and support. It's nice talking IRL with someone about it who has been through it and has 2 beautiful children to show for it. It's a completely personal choice, but for us it's been good. It also does the opposite of what most people think and keeps my family off our back with all the questions because they know we're trying.

That's it. It is hard. I am on my 7th month already and no luck.

this board helps alot. I want to be able to surprise both families with the good news.
