POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress UPDATED
need to see the answers....will update when i get some answers!
UPDATE ok so i guess i need to change my POV on things. i ALWAYS thought that the bride and groom paid of the flower girl dress and ring bearer tux, we did for my wedding, just thought that was the norm!
DH sister is getting married in July, backyard ceremony with about 30ppl invited.
i guess with my way of thinking i thought they would pay for the dress since she talked of either having MIL make it or go to one of the most expensive stores where i live to get one.
DH is laid off, we dont have a ton of extra money laying around.
So i guess i need your help ladies, keep in mind im not in the US so websites would be great so i can see if they ship here...i need a CHEAP white sundress 12-18 months...not too casual but not too fancy...also white shoes in size 3-4....anyone find anything for me to look into? I will email SIL with what i find if the price is right and see what she thinks!

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
When DH and I got married, the parents of our flower girl paid for her dress. I picked it out, she went to go get fitted for it and that was it!

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
I would say 95% of the time it is the parents. But there are a special few that will pay for it, I offered over a million times to pay for my flowergirl's dress, but the mother wouldn't allow it, I even tried having the place not have the mother know, but that didn't work either.

I would say the parents of the FG, unless it is obsencely expensive, then the bride and groom should chip in.

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
i think its usually the parents... unless the bride wants something REALLY special/expensive, then i think she should offer to pay at least some. for our wedding, my mom made my dress and we just bought some extra material and she made the flower girl dress out of the extra material. So, the flower girl's parents just bought her some shoes and a cute thing for her hair. in all my friends weddings, the parents paid for the dress.

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
We had the FG parents buy the dress, BUT.. we went to century 21 and burlington coat factory to find it.... I didnt have my heart set on any dress, and I didnt want the mom to spend 200 bucks on a dress that she would wear once... and then grow out of it... so we found the perfect dress there... it was ivory and matched my dress pretty welll

Parents of the FG. But I also think that the bride needs to be within reason. For our wedding I told the parents to just find a dress with any of the three wedding colors. That way she didn't necessarily have to get a $100 dress. She searched for a year here and there and find a perfect dress on sale for under $40. If I had demanded a $150 dress, than we may have offered to pay for some of it. (Her entire family was in the wedding party so we wanted to make sure they could afford it.)

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
i think it's the same as a bridesmaid dress... no one would expect the bride to pay for that, right? so the person in the wedding party, no matter what part they are playing, should pay for the dress (obviously in this case the parents of the flower girl would pay).

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
We paid for our Flowergirls dress and the Ringbearers suit. Both families were struggling at the time and I didn't think it was fair to expect them to pay for the outfits. We did not do expensive outfits - i think the flowergirls dress was $60 and the ringbearers suit was $50....in the grand scheme of the cost of the wedding, another $100 was not a big deal.

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
I paid for the flowergirl dresses & we got the ring bearer's tux as one of our freebies for the wedding party.
However, if my daughter was asked to be a flowergirl, I would think that I was paying unless it was offered.

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
For my wedding I wanted to pay for the dress but my mom insisted she did. My flower girl was my niece. My sister was in the wedding too and I didn't want her to have to pay for her dress and the flower girl dress. We also got it from Poor Baby in Sayville so the dress was only around $50 (I think).

The parents of my FG paid for their dresses.
But I will say. I picked them out at a local flea market and IMHO I didn't think $50 was unreasonable.

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
Well so far DD has only been a FG in my wedding so obviously we paid for that. She is going to be FG for my best friend & I plan to pay for the dress. I think it goes the same for the FG as the bridesmaids as far as providing your own dress.

If DD was in a wedding, I would expect to pay for the dress.
In my wedding, I paid for my FG's dress-but I had to sneak it past her mom who didn't want me to pay.

Re: POLL: who pays for the flower girl dress.
Well, DD has been in 2 weddings, and I paid for her dresses BUT My brother is getting married in 2 weeks and he INSISITED on paying for DD's dress(along with my 3 neices) I have to tell you that It felt wierd and I tried to fight it but he was getting mad. He is not rich, BTW. He wanted to pay for alterations and shoes too, but I secretly went and took care of it so he wouldn't.

I paid for my flower girl's dress. It was only around $50 and her parents were struggling around that time. However, if I were to have a dd and she were asked to be a flowergirl, I would assume I was paying for the dress.

Parents of the FG.
I offered to pay for my FG's dress, my cousin, and her mom, my aunt , absolutely refused. We choose a resonable dress.
