Re: Port Jefferson and East Setauket
both nice areas. Port Jefferson has it's own school district. Not sure if there are parts of Port Jeff that go to Three Village. However, Port Jeff has a great town, right by the water, great restaurants, shops, etc.

Re: Port Jefferson and East Setauket
Last I heard Port Jeff was one of the best school districts in the state. Great area. My first pick if I were moving. East Setauket is good too. Cant go wrong with either. I hear Port Jeff Schools are so small the the principal knows the students by first name. I wish my kids could have gone there but the area was out of my budget when we bought our home

This is true. It feels like a private school.
My grandmother taught there from the 60's to 1983 and my mother took over for her and taught there from 1983 until 2003.

There is a part of Port Jefferson (and Port Jefferson station) that are in Three Village schools. Very small part, but a part!
Both are very nice - I live in E. Setauket and we love it, fm me if you have any questions!

I live in South Setauket also... we share a zip with Centereach.
We were house hunting in both Port Jeff and the Setaukets... great areas and you can't go wrong with either school district.

Re: Port Jefferson and East Setauket
Both areas are very nice, and both SDs have excellent reputations. Three Village is a much bigger district than PJ, though. (I think Port Jeff has under 100 in their graduating class!)

Re: Port Jefferson and East Setauket
Its funny but your post sticks out not only because your on here but because my son has the same shirt. My son is 2 1/2 and I have a daughter who is nine.
South Setauket was my first choice because its closer by ten minutes to the north fork verse East Setauket and Port Jeff.
How old are your children? I remember seeing you on another board. I am also looking to speak with other moms who have special needs kids, as well as in these distrects this is why I am looking at these areas.

Re: Port Jefferson and East Setauket
You should Google those neighborhoods you're interested in and "cancer cluster" and "superfund". Just to be informed.

My friend's son has cerebal palsy and is in PJ Schools & they refuse to move because their son is so well cared for in this school district.

I actually heard a lot about this before we moved to the area. We don't drink the water and I also give my dog bottled just to be safe. I don't think I can do more then that. is not drinking the water really going to make a difference though? Every single LI water tower is covered with cell towers which can't be good for all water on LI (NOT TRYING TO START DRAMA)

Re: Port Jefferson and East Setauket
That's why I'm saying to check this stuff out and figure out what it means to you before you make a decision. Lots of people are aware but moved into the neighborhood and are very happy. I'd never judge anyone about that. It's just something I felt strongly about and weighed heavily in my decision. Besides the fact that I couldn't afford those areas anyway.

That's true. My father and step-mother live in Pt. Jeff and both my step-sisters went and just graduated from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School. Both very small classes, and the school faculty seems to know each student.

LOL neither do we. I think all of LI is a cancer cluster anyway - i dont think it matters what street you are on.
superfund sites can get cleaned - right now in farmingdale there was an old factory that was superfund that is now a stop & shop (and they are extending Allen park to the other half) so go figure!

I didn't know about the superfund sites in these areas. however, cell towers can't affect water supply. Radio waves travel through the air, they are not going to do anything to water.

then why does everyone petition to not have cell towers built? I thought it was due to the cancer risks- but I could be totally wrong
