Right, like come forward to a reputable news organization, the CDC, the police? With actual proof. Not hearsay from an internet game of telephone.

Well I for one am very relieved to hear that this is all just a big conspiracy and the virus is nothing to worry about.
Whew. I am so glad the randos on facebook who have no background in anything are telling me its a big fake.
Me too! Just waiting for my cousin to pop out of the grave and tell us how she was in on this whole government conspiracy! I'm sure her husband, son and father will be thrilled!

Hmmm haven’t heard of this story but you can’t be positive without a positive test so I’m kinda confused??[/QUOTE
Exactly. I have a long time friend whose BIL went to get a test as a coworker was tested positive. The wait was way too long so he left. A few days later he received a letter saying you are positive. How the heck can you be positive to a test you never took. Pretty sure this was the site someone said a relative also was told that.
Everyone seems to know this guy. The same story is being posted by so many different people - and its my friend's cousin, or my friend's coworker, or the sister-in-law of my best friend etc. Seems like a big rumor that many people are running with and have no ACTUAL, first hand knowledge
Exactly. If it is really happening then why aren't the ACTUAL people coming forward.
Who says they are not? Maybe that is possibly why they are questioning all the positive numbers now.
show me ONE example of the ACTUAL person this happened to coming forward. It's all my friend's friend's husband. My kids best friend's uncle, etc. Have not heard one first hand account of this, yet "everyone" seems to "know" someone this has happened to. Sounds like one big giant rumor to me[/QUOTE
Would you want someone sharing your name on a public site? I wouldn’t so for their privacy I would never do that.
NO one believes you

she asked for proof not the name. If this was happening as often as you are claiming it did then people would have come forward by now.
What proof? You can read how many places were sending in cases that were 100% positive and no negatives so I would think many could be from those too.

lol but there's no data that actually correlates as fact lol it's all fake news
just like the trump administration taking over the data instead of the CDC...we can see where this is heading

The article YOU posted said some private labs were reporting 100% positive or close to it bc they were only reporting the positive cases. Obviously this is not right and the health department there is making sure they change that. However, you seem to be trying to make people think they were giving every single person that showed up a positive result and that's not what the article says.

Re: Positive Results without a Test?
A Florida hospital handling COVID-19 tests confirmed to media this week that its near-100% positivity rate was overstated by a factor of 10, raising already-heightened concerns in the state about possible overreporting of the number of confirmed infections.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management posts a daily coronavirus update on its website, which features a list of the positivity rates of every COVID testing facility in the state. Hundreds of labs and hospitals throughout Florida are regularly testing state residents for the coronavirus.
In recent days, numerous facilities have begun reporting 100% positivity rates, figures significantly higher than the statewide average of around 15%. Many of those labs claim to have tested only one patient, though others with 100% rates report testing dozens and sometimes hundreds of patients.
Orlando news station Fox 35 said on Monday that it undertook an investigation of those "astronomical figures," after which several medical facilities confirmed that their actual positive rates were much lower than those reported to the state government.
The news station reported that area hospital Orlando Health "confirmed errors in the report," with hospital officials stating their their "positivity rate is only 9.4 percent, not 98 percent."
Another Orlando-area lab, Veteran’s Medical Center, listed "a positivity rate of 76 percent," but a company official said that "the positivity rate for the center is actually 6 percent."
The inflated numbers come as Florida has been recording record numbers of COVID-19 infections, though an analysis of state data by Just the News last week revealed that the state's recent record-breaking counts of infections may have been overestimated by as much as 30%.

Positive Results without a Test?
FOX 35 News went on to speak with the Florida Department of Health on Tuesday. They confirmed that although private and public laboratories are required to report positive and negative results to the state immediately, some have not. Specifically, they said that some smaller, private labs were not reporting negative test result data to the state.
"The Department immediately began working with those labs to ensure that all results were being reported in order to provide comprehensive and transparent data," a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Health said. "As the state continues to receive results from various labs, the Department will continue educating these labs on proper protocol for reporting COVID-19 test results."

Obviously this error throws off percentages but there are still 10k+ new cases a day and there are still more and more ICUs reaching capacity in the state.

1) You have copied and pasted an article from a site called www.justhenews.com. This is not journalism, this is a website that has found to not be credible and has had fact-checking errors in the past. It was created by a right-wing conservative citizen journalist.
2) 1 in 3 children who have tested for CoVid in Florida have showed a positive result. Here is a valid and credibly-sourced article that was posted recently on Fox:
https://www.foxnews.com/health/over-31-percent-florida-children-tested-florida-positive-covid-19-report
3) The story you have heard is false. It is an internet rumor. Perhaps someone you know is spreading false information. The exact story you have shared (that someone went on a long line and turned around and left and was sent a positive result) is being reported as a fake rumor. Here is a source:

It looks like it is dropping, down to 9,000 but are these strictly Covid ICU’s or a combo of everything?

Positive Results without a Test?
You had posted earlier today:
“This person had an appointment to get a test. He did not have the time to wait (think she said it was way over an hour). He left. He then got a letter in the mail saying he was positive. They had all his info but how could he possibly be positive without taking a test?”
The article I linked that reports this being a new internet rumor says the following:
“ ... since the beginning of the pandemic, social media began buzzing with people who claim they left a coronavirus test site because of a long line, but they still received a positive test result. Most of the social posts refer to knowing a roommate, friend or co-worker who made an appointment to be tested for COVID-19, never went, but received a positive result. Sun Sentinel’s attempts to speak with the actual people who received the results went unanswered.“
It sounded similar to me. If you’re close to this person, I would speak to them and urge them to contact that particular news media outlet with their supposed test results, as they can’t find anyone who could back up the claim.

I actually have contacted them actually as of this is true, someone does need to be notified if they weren’t already.

Do people really think that numbers are being intentionally and artificially inflated? In furtherance of what? What is the insinuation?

I think the answer is probably obvious, but since you asked....
The insinuation is that it is an election year and many people are hoping to oust Trump. Higher numbers make him look incompetent.

Yeah...these late stage rumors of minimal inflation on top of this dumpster fire of a situation and all that's gone on ...does anyone really think that there are undecided people for whom that's going to be the thing that makes them go "how many new cases in July? Well, THIS isn't going well..."?

Positive Results without a Test?
In terms of the testing time, yes they are saying 7-10 days. But Monday 7PM I was being swabbed for surgical clearance and by 7AM this morning (Weds) I had the results. It all depends what lab it goes to.
For local folks if you want potentially faster results, goto a Northwell Urgent Care center, since Northwell is processing their own tests (only). If they get backed up they are sending them out to larger labs, but at least you have a better chance of it being processed faster than going to a state run site which will send to a larger, grouped lab.
ETA: Doctor there said in the last week they have tripled the amount of tests taken, even higher than when the pandemic started. Lots of people coming in due to contact tracing.

Positive Results without a Test?
I JUST got off the phone with a friend of mine- she lives in WI. Are you ready for it... Someone in her town went to get a Covid test, and he couldn't wait on the long line, so he left. Three days later, he gets a call that he was positive. I told her that same man must have been in NY. Definite urban legend.
