possible fifths disease and pregnant- please help
my 16 month old had a couple of red dots on her thighs for the past few days, as well as very dry skin. thought it was weather related, today, i noticed its over both thighs, her arms and stomch. little red dots, and VERY dry skin around it. plus, she is scratching like crazy. I jsut gave some benadryl, and will take to ped tomorrow. about a week-10 days ago she had bright red cheeks for 1-2 day, i thought it was weather related. no fever. now i'm worried its fifth disease, i'm 8 weeks pregnant. when does the rash from fifths come? what does it look like? and how bad is it for me?

It is a lacey rash that does start on their cheeks but really distinctive- it looks like lace. Your DD sounds like she has exema(pregnant brain spelling sorry!). But she would also have had a fever for fifths since its a virus.
My neice had it when I was 6 weeks pregnant and I am with her as much as DD. I ended up not getting it so try not to worry.

I had a scare when I was pregnant as well. You should have been tested to see if you've already been exposed to it with your initial bloodwork. My ob/gyn said most people were already exposed, therefore have nothing to worry about. I'd put a call in to your ob/gyn and ask if they screened for it in your bloodwork.

I actually contracted Fifth's Disease at about 28 weeks pregnant.
Call the OB and get the blood test. If it comes back negative, have it repeated 2 weeks later. Mine was neg the first time.
If you indeed actually had the disease yourself, (you may already have been immune), then you will get followed by a high risk OB, like at Madonna.
Don't freak, I know I did, and Brody is now 11 weeks old, 15 lbs, and PERFECT!!
