Potty Training & "Code Browns" - TMI?
DS was "regular" his whole life (all almost 3 years of it)
Anyway, we starting potty training and he has been having these Monster Code Browns. He used to go 2-3 times a day - now he goes about once a day.
He struggles to get them out. No changes in diet
He didn't seem to struggle in diapers/pull-ups. Now he shakes and his face gets all red - he grunts.
Is he holding it? Wouldn't it be easier to go if he held it - like it was more ready to come out?
I'm afraid he'll get hemoroids.

I'm no expert, but it sounds normal. A lot of kids have stress about pooping on the potty, so a lot of times, they hold it in until they can't anymore....which makes them constipated, which causes pain, which causes more stress. Eventually, they get the hang of it.

This has been our world for the last two months. DD is having huge poop issues since being potty trained.
My mom suggested getting her a stool because her feet don't touch the floor to help push. At this point I am willing to try anything.

I forgot to add that we also created a special prize for Lily when she was struggling with pooping. I bought her a special Pez dispenser and hung it on the refrigerator so she could see it, but not reach it. I told her if she pooped in the potty and not in her pants for 5 days, she would get the Pez. And it worked! It kept her motivated to keep up with it and she learned pretty quickly.

Peyton recently potty trained and we have the same thing. Massive poops with lots of pushing. She isn't complaining so I think it is part of the learning curve. I do not recall this woth DD#1(but that was a loooong time ago)
