Potty training questions... I'm clueless...
Hello everyone! I am really dumb when it comes to this whole potty training thing. Since DH and I both work full time, we really can't work with him during the day, but for the last week, DS has consistently gone pee-pee on his potty before taking his bath.
And he really seems to understand it now (about a month ago he went on the potty a couple of times but I don't think he really realized what he was doing) Now when we sit him on the potty, he sits quickly, pushes, pees, stands up to look at it and knows that we put it down the big toilet. So he's starting to "get it".
He has not pooped on the potty yet, though because he usually goes during the day.
So, do you think he's ready to start moving forward a little bit with the potty training? I know they will work with him in daycare so maybe I should start sending him with pull ups and they could have him sit on the potty more regularly?
Again, I am totlaly clueless and in need of some advice or experience! Thanks!

Yeah, if I were you I would definitely move forward with it! Seems like he's really starting to catch on and with daycare there to help out and reinforce...hopefully he'll be 100% soon!
Good for him!

I am jealous!
DS has been sitting on the potty for 6 months and wants to do nothing on it but feel the cold on his bare tushy.

I think its definately time to move fwd, esp if daycare is going to help follow through during the day.

I would definately ask day care to help. They have loads of experience. I learned with DD that when they are ready, its pretty simple to teach them. Sounds like he is ready to go! The only thing you would need to reinforce is reminding him to use the potty. They get busy and forget to go.

Kelly, Lucas was the same way. He would just sit on it and pretend to push and nothing would happen.
It was just this last week that he seemed to get the connection between sitting, pushing, and checking out the pee-pee that he left behind!
I have been working in the city this week so DH has been taking him and picking him up from daycare. I will talk to them next week about starting to work more with him.
My biggest concern is that we will get him moving forward on the potty training, then he takes major steps back when the new baby comes! But we may as well try!

Absolutely!
cant hurt to try.
Daycare will def help and you can follow through at home. I would leave pull ups on, ask him or put him on potty 20 min after he drinks something...so he gets the idea or unless he tells you
G turned 2 and was potty trained in a wk. Thanks to my daycare ..my mom
ETA: not all kids regress when a baby comes. He may but it wont last long. My niece didnt even flinch or change her potty training so hopefully it works out for you two.

I would talk to daycare and see how they try to encourage it - chances are the teachers will all be on the same page and have a system worked out. Then you can follow their lead since they have more experience - that's my plan anyway.
BTW to PP who said DC has been sitting for 6 months - very discouraging - DS has been requesting to sit on the potty for about a month now - he's never done anything. Sometimes I don't even bother taking his diaper off b/c he usually decides he wants to go on the way to school!

Yeah, I know there is actually a little girl in his class who is fully potty trained now. I heard the mom say she was in big girl underpants already!
There are also a lot of kids in his class who are in pull ups. So I will definitely talk to the teachers on Monday and see what they say. Ooh, this is just so exciting!
