A bunch of potty training questions!

Ok...where to start??

I am so nervous about this.

Ok..she wakes up, I put her in underwear right away (no pullups here). Now..where do we go from here? Put her on the potty every 20 minutes? I can see tantrums being thrown every 20 minutes. Chat Icon

My biggest thing is that she is ALWAYS on the couch in the living room, its her favorite place to be. I am so scared that shes gonna be peeing on it every 20 minutes. I cant really tell her not to go on the couches now when it has been allowed for so long. I bought the vinyl panties so it minimizes the mess but still.

Also...what did you do when you went out??? I figure, I can stay in most of the week and try to train but what about after that? Put a small potty in the car?

Can you just please share your experiences? Whether youve btdt, going through it now or what you plan on doing. TIA.

Re: A bunch of potty training questions!

We're *almost* completely potty trained. We started with just underwear when I was home for a week. Every 30 minutes or so DD would have to sit on the potty- we kept books in the bathroom and I spent a lot of time on the bathroom floor reading to her. We also had a potty seat that she could sit on when she was watching TV. I would also dress her in jeans because they are so uncomfortable when they get wet!

Going out and to daycare she wore (still wears on shopping trips) a pull up over her underwear. This way if she has an accident it is contained, yet she still feels wet.

We only had one couch peeing incident when SIL was watching her.

We have only had to use a public bathroom once and she did well with me holding her over the toilet- we didn't have time to get the folding seat out. Chat Icon

Its still a work in progress but she is more interested in it now that she gets to pick her underwear every morning.

Nightime still in diapers though...

Re: A bunch of potty training questions!

At home during the day he is in underwear.

He wakes, I throw him on potty(I know he needs to go since his PM diaper is still dry)...

he goes, then we put on underwear.

He has his morning cup of milk in chair at table...then he is free for 30 minutes.

At that point I put him back on potty. I keep it in bathroom so he doesn't mess around. I give him 3 minutes. If he doesn't go then, repeat in 30 minutes...but then I sort of make sure he goes.

Then nothing to drink till lunch.

4:00 drink

drink with dinner.

we are still a work in progress.

At home he has on the thick training underwear and sweatpants. If he does have an accident, its all pretty much absorbed...
