Potty Training Tips!! Please!!!

My DD has to be potty trained for school in September and I am getting NO WHERE.

I have bought her big girl underware that she likes, rewarded her for just sitting on the potty, leave her naked......

All she does is pee on the floor next to the potty Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

She has no interest. What can I do???

Same here. I didn't follow it for bedtime. DS wore pull-ups to bed for about 6 months.

MY DD loves tattoos. So I bought a whole bunch and she was only rewarded with them when she went on the potty. It worked for us.

I had to do something similar to get my DD potty trained for school...it was pure bribery but it was the only thing that motivated her to go...I used Disney Princess Squinkies and Junior Mints and she earned them for going on the potty. I faded it out after a while and she got it.

The three-day method worked for DS but did not work with DD (my stubborn one). Instead, I hit up the dollar store and created a whole box of prizes (including pinata fillers and leftover party favors). Initially, DD was rewarded for just sitting on the potty and then eventually she was rewarded for using the potty, not just sitting on it. We promised her a "big ticket" item once she was fully trained- a Hello Kitty bike.

The trick was finding something that she wanted bad enough that she would actually train. She fought us for a long time and was super stubborn. We even let her eavesdrop on a conversation between her teacher and me about not moving up a class with her friends unless she was trained Chat Icon Little did I know, all it would take was a butterfly notebook to get her motivated. Hang in there!

Re: Potty Training Tips!! Please!!!

Just keep trying and offering her things if she goes on the potty. There will eventually be something that will just make her do it.

I bought DD a princess potty for her 2nd bday. She turned 3 this passed April and just potty trained last week.

I took her to Target (didn't even plan this) We happened to go down the underwear aisle and she wanted to buy some. I told her if I bought them she had to give all her diapers to her little sister when we got home. (I also bought the bed liners)

We came home, put all the diapers in the babies room and she has been wearing underwear since. She of course has accidents, and we are still working on going poopy on the potty. But she has been doing great.

They have to WANT to do it.

After similar frustrations, we just put on the underwear, stayed close to home, went to the potty every hour, and just let him pee in his pants. After 2 times ....he got it! It was a little messy but it worked. After that we would give him little presents when he successfully went (mini plastic dinosaurs, matchbox cars, whatever they are interested in at the time) . We also read a lot of books about it, and repeated the same thing for learning to go #2. It also helped that our daycare did all of this during the day too. We had some minor accidents in the first few weeks, but that is to be expected. I also have to say that I had tried a few months before several times but he wasn't ready. They have to be ready. Good luck!

DS was very motivated by books so I bought The Potty Train and Peggy's Potty and after a few nights of reading them at bedtime, underwear only during the day with hourly trips to the bathroom, and lots of patience it worked.

Potty Training Tips!! Please!!!

With DD2, we are struggling.

DD1 wanted to be potty trained, she wanted to be a big girl. DD2 has no interest or desire. I tried the 3 day with DD1 but she wasn't ready yet, I think I still have it, maybe I"ll give it a go for DD2.
