Preggo crashing with Question!
Hi, I'm sorry to be crashing but I figured I would get more responses here than on the pregnancy boards. I'm almost 13 weeks pregnant and I've seen "My Baby can Read" on infomercials. I've seen this for a few years just wondering if anyone has tried it or if they would? My DH and I were thinking about I figured I would try to get some feedback on it first. Any good or bad reviews would be helpful. Thank you!!

Re: Preggo crashing with Question!
Personally, I'm of the mindset that the only reason those programs work is because it forces face to face communication between parent and child. I'm not a fan of drilling young babies and children in an attempt to "make them smarter".
Talking to your baby in a "mommy" voice (high-pitched, lots of intonation) is by far the best mode of teaching/learning. To facilitate good literacy skills later in life, reading to your baby is proven to be the best way. Let your child see you reading, whether it be the newspaper, a novel, or a trashy gossip magazine. Just flipping through a board book and pointing out pictures is enough.

Re: Preggo crashing with Question!
I think children these days are far over scheduled and forced into too much too soon and that it is just not necessary. It becomes a level playing field by the time they are all around 6ish anyway.

Re: Preggo crashing with Question!
Im not really a fan... Im definitely no expert, but I think baby/parent contact is #1. No need to rush things too. Congratulations by the way!
