Pregnancy Food Aversion
As I'm sitting here eating my lunch, I thought about the foods that I have not been able to stomach (or smell) since being pregnant. And my one big one is onions...I used to love onions! Loved the flavor...loved the texture they gave to things...Now, the thought makes me gag!
What are some of yours?
ETA: What made me think of this is that someone sitting by me is definitely eating onions...I had to walk away!

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
steak!
for some reason i haven't wanted anything to do with steak - but i'm JUST starting to warm up to it now.
in first and part of my second tri... i also hated chicken. i still won't eat grilled chicken... but i've warmed up to roasted chicken, drumsticks, etc. just not grilled chicken
also in my first tri.. i wanted nothing to do with sweets - which is SO weird for me... but i'm more than making up for it now! hah
i'm sure there's more.. but that's all i can think of right now!

Ha, I'm opposite of both of you - I've been able to eat steak and bacon like a champ!!!
The sweets though - I was the same way...now I could eat them constantly!!!

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
Used to be all about the sweets. Now, it's the last thing I want. The only sweet things I can stomach is a snack size container of vanilla or rice pudding.

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
1st baby-raw chicken, couldn't prepare it for cooking, but I could eat it. I also couldn't stand Chili's boneless buffalo wings which I normally love.
2nd baby-tomato sauce, but only on certain things. I couldn't eat tortellini, but I could eat plenty of pasta or pizza. And I LOVED buffalo wings.
This baby i'm good so far...I can eat just about anything.

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
I don't have many aversions this pg. 1st time around I could not touch or look at raw meat in my 1st tri. I didn't cook anything but grilled cheese, pasta, and mac and cheese for 3 months. I could eat cooked meat, but if I saw it raw I couldn't eat it.
Although I do have an aversion now to yogurt smoothies b/c I drank them a couple of times in the morning and then I got sick and they burned my throat. I can't drink them anymore.

My first tri chicken killed me... oh it was horrible - coffee too! I couldn't even say coffee - thankfully that stopped because I love my coffee!

I haven't been able to stomach anything fried...My favorites were mozzarella sticks and fried calamari....Nor have I been able to eat Kraft Mac n cheese or Doritos without getting really sick...I can't wait until I can eat them again..

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
Me too. Anything heavy or too rich totally nauseated me, especially MEAT or CHICKEN. The smell of the BBQ was so gross. First and most of second trimester was anything light and refreshing. Oddly, I was really craving citrus, fruit, and salad for every meal. Watermelon was all I wanted for dinner and let me tell you, I LOVE to eat! Then, the carbs kicked in and I have been all pizza, pasta and bread for almost every meal. I'll throw a veggie in there once in a while just for good measure.
Also, I am now ADDICTED to grapefruit juice. Seriously, I wake up in the middle of the night and I HAVE to have it. Weird. I always liked it, but now I am OBSESSED. I actually had to cheat before my glucose test and have a small glass at 3am because the idea of knowing I couldn't have any the whole night before kept me awake for hours. Weak, I know. I think I have single-handedly blown the Waldbaum's grapefruit juice sales forecast out of the water this past 3 months. They must be wondering what the hell is going on. I should get a bonus.

Mine were garlic, cilantro and all meats cooking or cooked. It was an awful 3 months for me. COuld be why I have only gained a whole whopping 18 lbs with this baby.

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
Chicken! UGh....actually...the thought of any meat makes me want to hurl! I already told DH I think I will have to go vegetarian for the next 9 months.
I really don't know what to do for dinner lately though....the thought of so many foods make me sick, I can't even think about bringing them into the house!
ALso, I have also not really wanted sweets, although last night I ate a cannoli and it was good.
AH yes...and coffee...another NONO. I have been having tea although that dosnt always agree with me either. I had lemon tea today, that was pretty good.

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
Dark meat chicken, pork-this is what i can think of. Dark meat chicken will only work if it is killed with hot sauce.
Basically if I don't like the way it smells, we are done. End of story.
ETA: chunky peanut butter-worst heartburn ever!

Re: Pregnancy Food Aversion
Coffee for this pregnancy. If I smell it or look at it, I just think of dirty black socks. Do not ask me why! I have no idea!
