Prenatal yoga or prenatal exercise DVD?
I just found out that I'm pregnant for the first time!
Do any of you ladies do prenatal yoga or exercises? And if so, can you recommend a DVD? Which is better? I am new to all of this!

Re: Prenatal yoga or prenatal exercise DVD?
I am 27 weeks and have been taking my regular yoga class thus far. My instructor is amazing and modifies everything for me. If you are still early on, you really don't need many modifications, according to my doctor and instructor. Not until you are showing, really. If she wasn't able to do that, I'd probably be taking a prenatal class. I like having an instructor to correct me if I am doing any poses that may not be ok, and I also think that I am willing to "push"myself a little harder knowing that there is an instructor there to be sure that I am not doing anything wrong.
That being said, I think I may be switching to a dvd in a month or so...it is getting harder with my belly growing, and I think I'll feel more comfortable come 8 months in the privacy of my own home/my own pace!!! I may try a prenatal class in between there too. I am just more motivate in a group setting!!
You should try a class (sometimes first class is free) to see if you like it! I guess depending on the class/dvd one could be more challenging than the other. If you find a great dvd, let me know!!!

Re: Prenatal yoga or prenatal exercise DVD?
If you already do yoga, Jennifer Wolfe's prenatal vinyasa DVDs are pretty good though I haven't used them as much as I would've liked . If you don't already do yoga, these may be too much for you, esp without an instructor to correct your form. If you search for prenatal yoga dvds, you should find other posts on this subject - I know there other videos other women on here have liked that were more appropriate for beginners. Amazon reviews are also very helpful to find something good for you.

Thanks! I have never done yoga before so I am definitely looking for something for beginners. Amazon reviews are helpful but for every "this is for beginners only" comment I read, I find another one that says "this is definitely not for beginners."

Try searching on here - I know I've seen certain DVD's recommended for beginners - I just can't remember the names of them but a search should bring them up.

Re: Prenatal yoga or prenatal exercise DVD?
I do Shivea Rea's prenatal yoga. They have 3 instructors on the DVD which represent each trimester and will show you what modifications you need to use for each. I've used it with both my pregnancies. It would probably be more beneficial if I did it more than every other week
