Prepping in advance for party questions
We are having a party Sunday, but since the Saturday we have sports and another party I want to do as much as possible the Friday before so we can have it done.
If we make a full tray of baked ziti Friday will it be ok in the fridge till Sunday to bake or do I need to freeze?
Anyone know how much the shrimp cocktail platter at Costco is? Also, how long can it stay in the fridge? Do I get it Saturday or Sunday or would it be ok if I got it Friday as well?
The rest of the stuff we're getting catered and will pick up at one place Sunday, but don't want to be doing everything Sunday morning and running to 10 different places bc we had no time Saturday.
Thanks!

Prepping in advance for party questions
I wouldn't put the baked ziti in the freezer, I'm not sure how it would defrost. I think it should be fine in the fridge from Friday night to Sunday. BUT, what I would likely do is just make the sauce on Friday, then on Sunday morning make the pasta and bake, I would just be afraid that the pasta would get mushy.

Re: Prepping in advance for party questions
I would bake the baked ziti Friday night. Let it cool completely then just reheat Sunday. The shrimp I would get Saturday. I started setting up for stuff a day or two in advance. Any folding tables, chairs, tents all get set up before and yes I do i do it all, except the tent. I put table clothes left in the plastic and leave it on the tables. I get all my platters I need out and clean them if necessary, the I put post-it's on them with what food goes in them. I set up all my cups, plates, utensils, drink station.

don't bake the baked ziti prior to the party!! it will dry it out! prep it and keep it in the fridge, bake day of party on Sunday. I've done this many times.
I would get shrimp on Saturday. you want as fresh as possible!

Prepping in advance for party questions
I did ziti for New Years and made it in advance I baked it let it cool then just reheated as I prepped my turkey. Turned out just perfect! I usually set aside a little extra sauce just in case it needs some extra if it is dry! If you could get the shrimp on Saturday that would be the better options

You can absolutely prep on Friday for Sunday Don't freeze anything, it's ONE day. No one is going to get poisoned

Re: Prepping in advance for party questions
I HATE rebaked ziti, it's not the same. I would prep all of the cheese and sauce on Friday or the night before and then on the morning of the party I would just boil the pasta, layer everything, and bake it fresh. I would NOT cook baked ziti on Friday for Sunday, by then it's two day old leftovers and it won't be the same. The sauce is going to dry it out so much from Fri to Sun. Yuck.
