Re: Private Hospital Room????? **UPDATE**
The only thing I hated about delivering at St Catherines was the communal shower down the hall. Yuck it stunk to get up and travel down the hall to shower. Def bring Lysol spray and B&BW nice smelling handsoap. My roommate and I used the Lysol and sprayed down the seat everytime we went to the bathroom and the soap made the room smell really good
Oh yea get a cheap pair of flip flops that you can throw out after you use them for showering....

Re: Private Hospital Room????? **UPDATE**
My Ob is retiring so I was transferred to another that delivers at St. Catherines and Stony Brook. I am seriously considering delivering at Stony Brook.

This is a major issue for me, too. I will be delivering at Winthrop in August. Any idea how a private room works at this hospital?
My first two deliveries were at North Shore- Manhasset, and the shared rooms were a NIGHTMARE. The noise was an issue, but mostly, the cleanliness of the bathrooms was horrendous both times. I am not a princess in any way, but there was so much of the blood everywhere in that bathroom from my roommates that I not only felt grossed-out, but that my health was possibly compromised. (sorry if that was TMI!)
My third delivery was at Mercy, and I was given a private room. There are certainly better ways to spend the money than on an upgrade, but my bad experiences at NSUH convinced me that my health is worth it.
I delivered at winthrop twice..2006 and 2007 and had a private room both times. It was $220 a night and well worth it. They clean the bathroom everyday and I didn't feel it was dirty.

Winthrop has several privte rooms, they are first come, first served and last May were an additional $200 per night. They clean constantly there, so cleanliness was not a problem.

Re: Private Hospital Room????? **UPDATE**
I'm disturbed by the NSUH , eeeeks!! to share a room with 2 other people would really stink and to have a gross bathroom on top of that

Re: Private Hospital Room????? **UPDATE**
I delivered at Winthroop and requested a private room. It was large and cleaned evry day. The bathroom was huge. I loved it and would 100% pay extra again fior it.
