progesterone shot - wwyd?

hey ladies! happy friday! so tomorrow DH and i are going to a bbq in jersey. we probably wont be home until late and DH will be drinking. he has been giving me my progesterone in oil shots around 9:30 each night since i started on monday.

do you think i should skip tomorrow? or have a probably intoxicated DH give me the shot at whatever time we get home?

Hmmm..good question.

Could he maybe pace himself til he gives you the shot then pound em back? I don't know much about PIO...is there any leeway with the time? Will there be anyone there that would know how to give you the shot? Not sure I would skip it though.

I would definitely NOT skip it!

You do not have to take it at the same exact time every single day - just in the same time frame. I would suggest calling your doctor and asking if you can take it before the BBQ.

Don't skip your shot!! Are you in the 2ww or earlier in your cycle?
I've always done the shot myself; that may be a little safer than an intoxicated DH doing it.

dont skip it! i say if DH cannot do it suck it up and try it yourself. Honestly I thought that I wouldnt be able to do it but one night while out with the girls i had no other choice but to do it myself. It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. then DH took over for the rest of them. I hate those damn shots

I had a situation where DH wouldn't be around and my dr said that it should be done early in the day rather than miss it.

You should do it yourself. I did two or three myself when DH had to work. I was completely petrified the first time, but it turned out to not be bad at all...

I definitely would not skip it. I would suggest your dh not drink an amount that would make him unable to give you the PIO shot. You both are in this together. I think he needs to just take one for the team and be sure he can be there for what you need.

eta: I would never be able to do it myself and I've even done it for other people and give myself lovenox daily this entire pregnancy (I'm 31wks). but the idea of giving myself PIO would make me pass out. My dh has been away in Boston for the day but STILL made sure his ass was home at night to administer PIO. Like I said, you guys are a team. I think if anyone needs to man up here, it's him. Sorry. i would not skip it either. i did PIO for over 11 weeks and i did every single shot on my own. i'm terrible with blood and needles but i just did it because i knew i had to (DH is worse than me and would DEFINITELY pass out). try doing it on your own...once you get past the nerves it won't be so bad. but i do agree with PennyCat that maybe suggesting that DH not drink so much that he is unable to give you the shot is a good idea. good luck!
