I am all for a peaceful protest (and I find this one a waste of time) BUT once you start burning shit down and ruining your neighborhood, you lose your stance.
This.

I didn't vote for Trump and it certainly wasn't the outcome I wanted to see. That being said, I see a lot of people here commenting on the color of his skin and making fun. How are you any better then him for making fun of someones appearance? It's not nice and you're losing every valid point you make because you sound like children.
If you have to, make fun of the stupid stuff he says or anything else. Commenting on someones appearance (over and over again) is just wrong. Stop acting like a bunch of high school kids.
You've got it all wrong.
I have and will continue to comment on the "color of his skin". The color his skin -- ORANGE -- is not a naturally occurring skin tone. I would NEVER label a human being based on their natural skin tone, whether brown, black, white, peach, tan, red, WHATEVER.
The fact is this man uses either spray tan, tanning beds or makeup to look like he has a tan. And I believe that is because he is a narcissist who is overly concerned with his appearance (for reference, see not only his skin color, but his over concern about comments on his hand size, his ridiculous hair do, etc.). I point it out to make a point about his narcissism, his materialism and his insecurity, frankly. He is a phony and a joke, just like his fake orange tan.
And that is completely open game in my opinion.
It doesn't matter why he looks like that. Maybe it makes him feel better to make his skin look like that. That doesn't give you or anyone else the right to make fun of someone based on how they look. Maybe he has some sort of mental illness that makes him think he looks great with that skin tone. Either way it doesn't matter. You're no better than him when he says a woman looks like a dog. Grow up.

Protests turning violent
Why isn't Hillary calling for the protests to stop? They are "protesting" (and to use this word is an absolute joke) for her right? Everybody is waiting on the edge of their seat for him to mess up. Some of the things Ive read about Trump supporters are disgusting. Her stance on USA's borders alone is enough to not get my vote (Not that he had my vote either) And I will never understand why because Trump said we should have a better screening system before letting the refugees in is so horrible?? Um it is a scary scenario and I want my children safe! How many bombings have we gone through and or stopped in the process by law enforcement? These are real, active threats. Where there is smoke there is fire- I was actually going to vote Hillary until this lastest email scandel. How can the world not atleast conclude that the minimum power she had as secretary of state made her power hungry and more about the money than about the safety of the USA? I didn't want to sit back and wait to see what the power of her being POTUS would lead to? I am all for a women president, I can not wait for the day but she was not the right choice IMO. And on the other side was a man who is an ego maniac and had horrible things to say about a women in private 11 years ago? It sucks but do we really think he is going to take office and declare all men start groping women? He didnt put American lives in jeopardy. He's a jerk but not a life long slimy politician. Also what is so wrong about a wall? (Not that I think it will ever come to fruition) What is a country without borders truly? He in no way said no one is allowed in ever, he said do it legally!!! Why is that wrong?! Things are unfair in this country. I work for a program where illegal immigrants get 100% free daycare, no questions asked from 8-4pm. American families need to prove their income to be accepted into the program. I pay a mortgage payment for daycare and make "too much" for the program which is a joke because we struggle so hard as a family. These little things are big things to Americans, I want to feel like I come first.

I honestly didn't read your entire post, but NO people are not all protesting "FOR" HRC. I think most people realize that ship has sailed, and she is probably going out to pasture.
It is a protest AGAINST "the Donald" and his disastrous policy ideas, and he himself as leader of the free world.

Maybe we can prove your point without making fun of someones appearance
If he has a mental illness, then you're making fun of someone with a disability that he has no control over. So again, try to make your points without making fun of someones appearance. It's not nice and it's what some people (including me) dislike about Trump. You can make every point you're trying to make without including the comments about his appearance.

... and his first response to the protests?
"Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!"
Not, Let's come together, stop the violence, look to the future, or anything a president SHOULD say... he immediately complains about people expressing Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Speech. (He didn't expressly point out violent protesters, it appears as though he is addressing all protesters.)
His tweets are contradictory - this morning: "Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!"

We seriously can't have a President who posts inflammatory and derisive info one moment, then something completely different a little while later. As a President, EVERYTHING he says will be interpreted, and possibly acted on. He no longer represents just the people he wanted to vote for him. He now represents the entire country, and in some ways, a good part of the world. I'm not being bitter or angry or hating on him by this, but someone seriously needs to take away his Twitter account. He should only be allowed to post stuff through an adviser who can temper what he posts.

And that is completely open game in my opinion. You just lost all credibility with this silly post. The double standards are ridiculous. You said the point of protest is to express outrage& influence the direction of the country. You've all had the last two years to do so. Accept that half of our country does not share the same or similar beliefs as you. That doesn't make us racist or xenophobic. You want change? Start at home. Be role models to your children. Teach your children love and respect to all people. Educate them. This basic logic has nothing to with our president or leaders. It all starts there.

RE appearance : let's stay away from insulting anyone's appearance on side. It does come across as childless. There is no place for it in an intelligent argument. Furthermore, there is plenty we can say that is negative without broaching his orange tan.

Yes what mrsboss said. We are not helpless. You cannot legislate people into liking each other. Everything starts at home. Who said it - maybe it was even Obama - something like "BE the change that you want to see in the world." Teach your children not to hate. Talk to your friends about why you disagree with their opinions. (TALK not call them names). TEACH them sonething. LEARN something. But complaining and blaming others usually does nothing to effectuate real change.

I am a role model to my children. Don't presume you know how I parent and what I present to my children based on my posts on an Internet forum. That is rude and ridiculous. Besides, my 7 year old has seen pictures and videos of your leader, and he has had his own (independent) reactions.
So were you equally outraged when Donnie said he didn't sexually assault those women bc they weren't attractive enough that they wouldn't be his "first choice"? That a woman was a "dog"? Oh yeah, he is so respectful of people's appearances. Please. Just stop.
You imply you aren't racist or xenophobic? Though I'm sure not everyone who voted for him is, I really don't know how one could vote for someone who actually is a racist, xenophobic, sexist bigot. What does that say to all of America's children?

To all of those who think a peaceful protest is silly or pointless- what say you about all of the ones in the 60's for civil rights- the million man march and sit-ins for example? Were they pointless?

Sadly, the fact that you didn't read the entire post is probably what a lot of people have done throughout this election.. Close their mind and not read or hear the facts or what people are saying. Maybe you should've read her post to see why she's upset. I am too. She's struggling to pay for daycare and the broken system is giving it free to people who aren't even legal citizens. My family got sponsors, came off the boat, and went through the entire process legally. All while proudly displaying the flag and learning the language and getting jobs. Regardless, I agree with the other comments. You are just as bad for making fun of his looks even if he uses spray tan. Grow up!

Grow up!
Yes, you're quite right- I have closed my mind. My mind literally can not take any more of the hate, sexism, racism, xenophobic, anti-immigrant rhetoric The Donald's campaign has spewed for over a year and as your post so illustrated. Your immigrant relatives were so wonderful but immigrants today are terrible moochers...they live in the lap of luxury while we suffer, sure. I guess you don't know any immigrants today, bc the ones I know sure aren't. The immigrants I know are working back breaking jobs for slave wages, jobs you wouldn't dream of taking, and not getting anything for free.
Anyway, I'm sorry but I found her post to be really long and rambling but I did read it in its entirety. Doesn't change my opinion.
I see there's no point in discussing the issues with some people. There's no getting through.

Grow up.
EXACTLY!!
"Maybe he has some sort of mental illness that makes him think he looks great..." Bingo!
We don't need somebody who is so fragile and possibly mentally ill with the codes to the nukes, with the fate of the planet in his hands. Thank you for proving my point.
It's interesting that you're singling her out for criticizing this man for his appearance and the possibility of a mental illness or disability when the president-elect himself has done the same. I'm confused and can't keep up. You may not have voted for him. I certainly didn't. But, I thought this kind of speech was now perfectly acceptable and mainstream in a post-Trump era. Is this not considered "telling it like it is"? I thought that was a big reason as to why he was elected in the first place. That and something about a wall and making America great again.
As for the protesters, violence is never ok regardless of what side you're on.

This isn't about Hillary anymore. And, honestly, this isn't her problem to solve. "The people" spoke and they spoke for her opponent. She conceded graciously, told everyone to accept, unite, and move on. What more does she owe us? Your anger here is misdirected. It should be aimed at our new leader who is literally doing nothing but making the problem worse by not addressing it, then tweeting in a patronizing manner to instigate and provoke, then switching gears and commending their passion. These people aren't protesting because they have some love affair with HRC. I'll venture a guess that these people are protesting because they feel abandoned. They feel like "the system" turned its back on them. You see, all the safety and civil liberties that the average American enjoys, and that they recently acquired, hang in the balance. They virtually disappeared overnight because "the people" have spoken. They feel betrayed by their fellow Americans, and the government whose sworn duty it is to protect and represent them. They are horrified that the American government allowed a presidential hopeful to build his entire campaign on a hatred for their very existence. And, considering most of the voters based their vote on the "lesser of two evils", they're terrified that 60 million Americans thought this guy was the lesser.
As for him not putting American lives in danger.... That's exactly what he did. The only difference is instead of just being targets of foreign attackers, Americans are now also targets of home-grown terrorists. Fellow Americans. Their neighbors and peers.
Some of them are protesting for "the greater good". In that event, the cause is even more noble. They are choosing to put others' needs ahead of their own... Something I wish more Americans did. If they did, perhaps we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with.
I do understand your frustration. As much as we try to create our own divide even without his help, many of us are actually in the same boat in many regards. But with his grandiose, unrealistic promises I'm not very hopeful he will be able to come through on many of them. I don't really understand why some of his supporters are gloating in victory. I feel like in this election we all lost. The only difference is that, these people that are protesting have an added disadvantage and that's directly due to him and his reprehensible actions.

To all of those who think a peaceful protest is silly or pointless- what say you about all of the ones in the 60's for civil rights- the million man march and sit-ins for example? Were they pointless?
And not even that, these peaceful protests would not have even happened without the violent ones. It's a myth if you believe everything was peaceful then. MLK wouldn't have been able to succeed had it not been for X or the Black Panthers.

Re: Protests turning violent
I watched some **** set fire to a tree and bash a screen at a bus stop. Then they get mad at the police for POLICING. And attempt to hurt the police.
I have no respect for that at all. Lock em up.
