Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
I'm looking for a good pulled pork recipe without any kind of soda. I've done a search and can't find one.
TIA!

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
I just do the pork (butt or loin or tenderloin) in the crockpot, add a bottle of fave bbq sauce and cook until it shreds. Couldn't be easier. I've done it with a bunch of ingredients before and it wasn't any better than this lol.. You can also do a thinly sliced onion if you want.

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
Is there any difference if I use tenderloin as compared to shoulder or butt?

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
Tenderloin is much less fatty and can become dry if overcooked. I use it though because I'm trying to cut down on fat.

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
I cook the pork with a whole bottle of apple cider vinegar. After its cooked, I take about a cup of the juice from the pot, half a cup of ketchup, red pepper flakes and sometimes ill put oj as well, and pour that mixture over the shredded pork. Its always a hit.

I tried a pork loin once and it was nearly impossible to shred. On the other hand, pork shoulder can be very fatty. I would vote for the shoulder but try to trim it really well first.

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
I use a McCormack seasoning. All you need is 3pounds of pork - I don't use the tenderloin, apple cider vinegar, ketchup and brown sugar. It always comes out yummy.

I always use tenderloin in the crock pot... always shreds easily and tastes delicious!

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Approx. 7lbs bone-in pork shoulder, skin removed 2c ketchup 2c BBQ sauce (we like Sweet Baby Ray's) 2 large onions, sliced, diced or chopped 2-3 tblsp chopped garlic 2 packets Chinese mustard (opt) 1/4 c Worcestershire 1/2 c brown sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper Mix ingredients in slow cooker and rub all over pork. Cook on low 12 hours. Cool at room temp 1.5 hrs then in fridge until fat hardens. Skim fat off top of sauce. Remove and pull pork using 2 forks, and return meat to sauce. Heat and serve, adding extra bbq sauce as needed. This makes about 5 lbs of meat.

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
All suggestions look good! I think I'm going to try the shoulder first. I've never had pulled pork before, so I'll try it out with that.
Can I freeze leftovers?

Yes, you definitely can! I do this all the time because it makes soooo much. I usually freeze in qt size freezer bags with 2 portions.

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
you can use a vinegar based bbq sauce instead of soda. And then add more sauce after you shred it or let people add their own.

Re: Pulled pork recipe for crock pot
I cooked a 2 lb.pork shoulder (without bone), a can of pineapples with the juice, some brown sugar, a roughly chopped onion, and some BBQ sauce (Newman's) in the crock pot for 8 hours on low. Then I shredded, put it back in with some of the left over sauce (no onions, pineapple, etc) and added more BBQ sauce and cooked on low for an hour.
It was delicious! I served it on whole wheat rolls with some homemade coleslaw. Yum! Thanks for all your help!
