Putting up Fence in Back Yard
Ok here is my situation... I live in town of brookhaven... my back yard is completely fenced in by my neighbors fences.... None of the fences are ours... the good side faces us on all sides. However my wife and I would like to put up vinyl fence and we don't really get along with the surrounding neighbors... we are more than willing to pay for the fence ourselves... is there any reason we cant have the fence put up in front of our neighbors fences?

Re: Putting up Fence in Back Yard
Nope. As long as its on your property.
Chances are they will take theirs down though so they have a nice vinyl fence

You can do whatever you want (with reason) on your own property. Lots of people have double fences, where one fence is on their property, and another fence is on their neighbor's property. Just make sure you check with the survey, and everyone's fence actually is on their own property.

Just give the fence company your property survey. They know how to put the fence in.

Use your survey to put up your fence. When did you buy your house? If those fences were already there, if they were on your property, you would have found out then. What kind of fences do they have that you want to block?
So how can this effect you? Well if their fence is on your property, then you put another one up…their fences would need to be moved if you sold your house, and therefore your fence would not be in the ideal spot (but on your property so the issue really isnt yours).
Hope you know what I am saying. And fences should never be directly on the property line. They should be a few inches IN on your property anyway. You can put it anywhere inside your property, two inches from the property line, 6 inches, that's not an issue.
