Q about starting meats...
I've been mostly making my own baby food but I'm a bit intimidated about making meats so I was going to start with the jars. So here's my q - I'm going to start with Chicken as per the ped but I see all the earth's best and gerber are chicken combined with something else? Don't you have to start with just Chicken to see how they react?
Also, what age did you start? TIA!

Re: Q about starting meats...
We started at 6 months...
We just bought the Gerber meats and then mixed it with some applesauce. They are pretty nasty and we wanted to make sure there wasnt a reaction..once we got through them all I started making my own (I think it was b/c of them that DS decided he didnt want any babyfood at all after that!!!)

Re: Q about starting meats...
i think we started around 7-8 months old. if you want to use earths best mixed with a veggie you can as long as your dc has already had the veggie. if it's chicken with sweet potato and you know your dc isn't allergic to sweet potato and they get a reaction then you know it's the chicken.
i personally use the gerber meats and mix it with a fruit (usually pear, prune, mango, or apple) so that it tastes better. i like doing this b/c the meat has more protein than the mixed meat meals.

Does the gerber sell just the meat alone? I didn't see it...
Also, if DS has had the veggie but, I made it for him not the jar does that matter when mixing?

yup gerber has 2.5 oz. glass jarred chicken, beef, veal, lamb, and turkey.
as long as you made the veggie than it will be fine.
