Q- changing deed and STAR/taxes
I am looking into refinancing and possibly changing the deed from my maiden to my married name (DH and I closed on the house two weeks after we were married, I didn't change my name until a few weeks later). Would I have to fill out a new STAR form? Would any assessments I had grieved so far not apply since they are technically in my maiden name? Figured i'd ask if anyone else went through this! TIA!

Changing your name will have no impact on any taxes you may be in the process of grieving. The proceeding name will technically change to Jane Doe formerly known as Jane Smith. It's not a big deal.
You shouldn't need a new star application either. Just because you are now Jane Doe doesn't mean you are no longer Jane Smith. You are actually both.

great thanks! I was just concerned because I read that with STAR, there must be an application filled out when there is a new deed, so didn't know if technically changing my name made it a new deed.

Re: Q- changing deed and STAR/taxes
I just changed my deed during my re-fi..... my name changed and my father was taken off (he co-signed the original mortgage). I have to re-apply for Star for next year.
