I'm not a SAHM mom.
In my opinion it's based on how you and DH view money. My DH and I see money as "ours"...not "his" or "mine". I pay all the bills but we both have access and neither one of us asks for permission to take out money. We do give ourselves a cap for the week but take what we need when we need it.
As someone who was unemployed at one point, DH never made me feel like I wasn't contributing to our family or that he would give me an "allowance". I still paid the bills and managed the household finances.
I must say I didn't need as much money when i was home unemployed or even when i was on maternity leave.
