Can you bring chairs with you? We have public pools here in Levittown that are free (well my taxes pay but Chat Icon ) and we can bring chairs.

not sure about the chairs- no one else had one

they had about 10 lounge chairs

of course this pool really isn't free either-since even us renters pay city tax

I would look in to the chairs it might be worth it. 10 lounge chairs thats nothing. Our pools dont have chairs they have cement benches but like I said people bring chairs.

Exactly. You pay the taxes so why not use it. Thats the way I look at it. My cousin lives in Bellmore and has a pool by her but you have to pay for it. So she brought the 2 kids over and we went to the pool.

We are right around the Fort Totten pool...the big question is HOW do you get in??? I mean, do they ask for proof of residency or anything like that and if so, what is acceptable?

I looked online and couldn't find info.

Re: queens residents (bayside area)

Thanks for the info Beth! I will be going during the week so maybe it will be a little less crowded.

Do you know if there is a designated eating area?

Re: queens residents (bayside area)

they are open every day but wednesday

there was a picnic table

but you can also eat on the fields outside the gate

you are going to be Chat Icon about what is back there

the land alone must be worth $100M

I could not believe my eyes

you have about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot- so if you have little ones- try not to pack too much

DH and I bike ride over there and it's insane what the grounds are like. Did you see bikes around indicating that people rode over there?

my parents go to deepdale and they love it. I used to go there when I was younger, there were always lots of kids and on weekdays they used to have a little kiddie camp, not sure if they still do. The only thing is there is a waiting list unless your a resident of the garden apts in deepdale.

Re: queens residents (bayside area)

I just wanted to comment on the Fort Totten pool. We attempted to go on Sunday. However we got there at 2:30 and they would not let anyone in, becuase they are only open from 11-3 and then 4-7 which really sucked after walking a half mile + in the heat with 2 small kids. When we did get there I would say there was about 100+ people there. A lady told me that they published it in the local newspaper as an open city pool so a lot more people were there then normal.

The pool itself looked ok, it isnt huge or anything special but looked clean. Not sure it is worth all the effort of finding parking in the small crowded outside lot and then walking 10-15 minutes to get there.

It is open for bike riding and has awesome water front views and looked like a great place to walk around.

For anyone who goes, you park outside the gate, walk in and up the hill towards the right, at the top of the hill you see soccor fields, go to the left, the pool is on the other side of the fields. No one asks for any ID
