Question about boilers/gas heat
For those that have boilers, what kind do you have? We're considering converting to gas heat. Right now Keyspan will sell a standard (80% efficient) boiler for $599 and a HE boiler (93%) for more (can't recall the amt.).
What kind of boiler do you have and how efficient is it? It seems like the amt. of money the 93% would save is about $10 per month.

Re: Question about boilers/gas heat
We just got a new furnace 2 years ago. We have gas heat. I think we paid roughly $3000, but I could be off a little because we had it put in when we had central air installed (the CAC is intergral with our furnace as it uses the same ductwork). It's a 2-cycle, 93% efficient one.
The prices you got seem so cheap. I guess there is a price difference between boilers and furnaces.

Re: Question about boilers/gas heat
Im assuming that price do NOT include labor. When we had our conversion we got a new boiler and hot water heater and they were free from Keyspan but that was a few years ago.
Our whole conversion including taking out of inground tank and filling in the whole with top soil and it cost us roughly $5000

Re: Question about boilers/gas heat
Right, the price does not include labor. Keyspan will sell the unit and give you plumbers to contact.
