Question about CIO...Ferber...ect

We have a 1 bedroom apartment...is it even possible to do one of these if he doesn't have his own room?

OK good. We can def stay out of the room during the evening. Alot of the time when he wakes up in the middle of the night he just needs to be patted or rocked for a second or two. It's not often he wakes up and stays up.

Re: Question about CIO...Ferber...ect

As the PP said I think it would be doable putting him to sleep, but might be a problem in the middle of the night. Is there a way you can hang a sheet or put a screen or something in between his crib and your bed so he can't see you?

We also have a one bedroom, and while the going to sleep part was easy, he still wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes and I have to take him to bed with me bc my husband can't take him crying in the middle of the night. But he goes to sleep on his own with no problem and if I let him cry through the night that wouldn't be a problem either. My thinking is that eventually he will stop waking up in the middle of the night and everything will be A-ok.

Our problem would be the going to sleep. Rylan has NEVER went to sleep on his own

Re: Question about CIO...Ferber...ect

As the pps said - def for bedtime.

When we go away and Jack wakes up in the middle of the night and sees us - it is VERY hard to let him CIO - it almost never works. I usually have to hide under the covers after taking him out a few times.

Bedtime though - no problem - and it may make it easy if he does wake in the middle of the night to put himself back to sleep!

As of right now he can't really see us from the crib...once he can get up on his own that will be a different story!!

If your problem is mostly with Rylan going to bed and you guys can stay out of the bedroom for a bit after putting him to bed and let him CIO if you need to, then you should be ok. Our problem was Kaydyn waking in the middle of the night, so if she was in our room we would have needed to do something to block her from seeing us. When we started doing CIO in the middle of the night it only took her 2 days or so to get the hang of it, so hopefully you'll be just as lucky and he'll catch on fast.

Yeah our problem is the falling asleep. Of course there's a night here and there when he wakres up but it's not often enough to be a problem.
