Question about Crib Shopping
So, we found a crib we liked at BBB. We are looking for something kinda specific-- because of the color we need. We found a lot of cribs only come in white and a very dark color-- while we need a light wood/pine color.
Having said that-- we are ONLY buying a crib. We looked at 4 places close to us (including PB Kids and Bellini). The only other places I thought I would check out are Behrs and MAYBE Sukons. I also live in NJ-- but, just outside of Manhattan-- so delivery fees may pose a problem.
Is it worth it for us to continue the search, or just get the one we saw at BBB. We like it and it's also a lot cheaper than we thought we'd spend, and it got a great rating in Baby Bargains. I feel like we should just call it a day-- I have enough other items to worry about buying.

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
The ONLY reason why I think I should maybe look at one more place-- is to find one with a drawer on the bottom.
I'll be on LI tomorrow afternoon so MAYBE I will hit up Behrs if I feel like driving to Seaford.

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
Once I find any crib that I like, I will just buy it and be done -- I always over think things, though

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
Have you visited Crib and Teen and the Crib Outlet in Jersey?
I went this past weekend and Crib Outlet has some good stuff. They carry Ragazzi, Pali, Munire, Sorelle and some others that are pretty reasonably priced.
If you really want to get the bottom drawer (which I also think are so practical to have!) I noticed a good # of cribs by Young America by Stanley has this feature. They are abit more expensive 'cus of that...

We went there-- I think it was on Rt. 4. It was just a store though-- is there an outlet or is that just what it's called? We did see a Muniere crib we liked there-- but it was the only one and no drawer.
Do you have any idea of what the dimensions are of the drawer when those cribs are in "crib state"? They look rather small-- not sure it's worth the extra money for a small drawer.

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
I'd just get what you both liked..... You're right, there's soooo much stuff to research (strollers, carseats, pack n' plays, pumps, linens, and even disposable stuff like diapers, bath products) that you would be better off spending your time looking at that stuff.
after all, you likely will only go back to this original crib anyway!

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
If you like the crib in BBB, get it. It feels so good to be done with that!

their web site says Seaford.
I am probably going to skip it... I am headed to Woodbury, then stopping at my mom's in Melville, then meeting my dad for lunch in Westbury. By then, I might just not want to traipse over LI anymore-- as I still need to then drive back through Manhattan to get home. We'll see.

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
I would say skip it and just purchase the one that you and DH like from BBB. If it got a great rating, is the color you are looking for, is a good price etc .... then order it and move on to the next thing on your list. The fact that you are only buying a crib and not an entire set means that you aren't going to save that much money (if any) by going to Behr's etc. Take the plunge and buy the crib

Re: Question about Crib Shopping
Randi - not sure if this sways you one way or the other, but I read in Baby Bargains that the drawer underneath the crib isn't really worth it due to size and they said that things get really dusty in there because there isn't a top (or back?) on it and it rests on the floor.
I decided it wasn't worth the extra expense for me.
