Question about Doctors charging $$$$
I just recieved my health insurance statement for this month. I am 8 months prego and switched my doctor in the middle of my pregnancy.
My previous doctor charged 150$-200$ a visit.
This doctor...and I have NO idea why...It started at 350 for a visit then 400$ than 1500 NOW I have a statement saying 2500!!!! NOT sure why its increasing so much. Are they trying to see how much money they can get from my health insurance....I mean thats just crazy.

Re: Question about Doctors charging $$$$
Yeah, they usually charge more than they get paid. They have agreements with different insurance companies about how much the insurance is willing to pay, and the doctors have to accept the amount.

still sounds extremely suspicious to me... there's no reason to bill beyond what a normal office visit should cost out of pocket, KWIM?
If it were me, I'd confront the billing office for your Dr about that.

Re: Question about Doctors charging $$$$
Well, were there any tests administered during this visit or was it just a regular office visit?

It was for a normal visit..no tests.
I got the guts to call and ask. They had explained to me that there is a new way of billing now. The insurance companies want them to bill them per trimester. The lady said she billed them a total of 2600 for the second trimester but they only really get like 800$ of it. So I guess that settles it.
