Question about EP and sending your newborn to the nursery at night while in the hospital
If you EP while in the hospital and chose to send your DC to the nursery at night, would they feed the baby your breatsmilk (assuming you had enough to cover a feeding) or do they automatically get formula if they are in the nursery?
I EP with the twins and plan to do that again with this one. Last time my milk came in fast and furious so to speak. If that happens again and there's enough milk for the entire feeding, will they give it to the baby? Or is it that if you send the baby back to the nursery at night they will automatically give them formula regardless of your milk supply?
I would like to be able to stay rested and have the baby in the nursey at night but I dont want it to have formula unless it's absolutely necessary.

if the baby is bf only then they won't give the baby formula. in your case it's ep... but still breast milk.
i'm not sure if they will give the baby a bottle of your bm for you, i don't see why not. BUT if they won't then they will bring the baby to you for feedings.
i only had them take the baby the first night and they brought her in to me when she needed to be fed, as she was ebf.

I would imagine they would use your milk

I pumped once and the nurse said they would feed ds that. I had them bring him to me anyway. They were very pro feeding breastmilk.

Re: Question about EP and sending your newborn to the nursery at night while in the hospital
I EBF until DD had to go under phototherapy for jaundice. Then I had to EP and supplement with formula. I would pump and bring what little I got down to the nursery and combine it with the formula and feed it to her while she was under the light. They were great about me giving her what I could pump, but one time DD was screaming for food before I got there so they gave her a little formula to hold her over until I got there with the BM.
At Good Sam they were very good about doing exactly what I wanted. Everyone was extremely pro BFing. Just tell them you don't want any formula given and they should respect that.
