Question about first appt after BFP...
I just got my BFP last night. I emailed my OBGYN to tell her (we had spoke earlier in the week regarding me not getting my period or a BFP). She wrote me back and told me to make an appt. for 6 weeks from now.
I'm estimating that I'm about 5 weeks (going by my last period). I thought I would be seen earlier, like around 8 weeks. I'm confused....

Every doctor is different. Write back just to check w/ her maybe she misread your dates. I went in around 8 weeks for my first appt, but didn't have my first sono until 9 weeks.

Re: Question about first appt after BFP...
many OBs will not see you until 10 weeks, she probably figures you are 4ish weeks (+6 = 10)...
honestly, although its torture to wait it out, its better to go later vs. earlier. You will see more this way. Sometimes, we are earlier in pregnancy than we thought and it can be nerve racking if they dont see the baby or a HB or sac etc. This is the main reason they make you wait, to ensure that they see something!!!
CONGRATS!!!

Re: Question about first appt after BFP...
since it took so long to get the BFP, i am going to assume you O'd late. she is definitely taking that into account. if you O'd on time, you would have gotten a BFP the first day of your missed period.
Even if you are X weeks from your last AF, the "fetus age" would still be too soon to show anything.

Thanks for clearing it up.
I'm definitely OK to wait to go. With everything going on, 6 weeks will fly by.
Thanks!!

Congrats on your BFP!
My advice... just wait the 6 weeks! I just posted about how I went thinking I was 6 weeks and it was too early and I didnt see anything and now I just worried myself!
You'll be soo happy when you go in there and you see the heartbeat and baby, it'll be worth it!
