Question about flying with a toddler
Do i have to bring my son's birth certificate with me to airport for check-in? Never took DS on a plane, so have no clue.
Any other tips for traveling with a 3 year old are welcome...i'm a little nervous for some reason.

Re: Question about flying with a toddler
We flew AA recently with a 1 yr old & did not need ANY form of identification for him. We did have his passport.
I'd highly recommend booking early & if you can, getting a set with extra leg room. We didn't do this & regretted it

Re: Question about flying with a toddler
I would bring a copy. We have been asked for it - but not every time.
DS has only been on fairly short trips - the last time in September was about 1 1/2 hours. We brought a lovey so he could slepp (which he did the whole way back), some books and, I hate to say it, but the one thing that helped the most - esp when we were sitting, waiting to take off - was DH's Ipod Touch. DS watched a lot of Finding Nemo. Even without the sound he was happy to watch.
I was really worried, but it ended up being a lot easier then I had thought it would.

I usually bring a copy but, have never been asked for it. I have been told they only check if it's a large lap child to make sure that you aren't trying to game the system if they are over 2.

Re: Question about flying with a toddler
Make a copy and bring it, i've flown several times with DD and have never been asked for it, but it can't hurt to have it with you just in case.

Re: Question about flying with a toddler
You should travel with a copy of the birth certificate (not the original). They may or may not ask you for it to confirm the child's age etc.
My toddler was a lot younger (first at 15 months and then at 19 months) when we flew. Definitely have snacks and a sippy cup ready to give. Some new toys should help keep him entertained. We had to put Rio on my iPad to keep DS calm for the second half of our short flight.
