Have you ever had a lump removed from your breast?

I am getting one removed at the end of the month. I'm not really worried because we've been watching it for a year and a half with mammograms and sono's and I keep being told it's nothing. However after going to a surgeon 4 times just to make sure it doesn't change, he finally said let's remove it. He thinks it's just normal lumps. I'm just wondering if there is any downtime to something like this. Will I have to stop exercising? The dr. said it's a 15 min. procedure and the nurse said women can handle these things easily. Any advice?

i'm sorry to hear that they'll have to go in... but i think you'll feel better knowing it's out and what it is.

i'll have to get back to you on your question... i have not had it done, but my mom did... many moons ago.

one thing i do remember... wear a sportsbra afterwards!

my mom had two removed, one from each breast. she was told not to wear anything the first time... the natural weight of the breast does hang and it made the scar become larger than needed. the second time, she wore a bra and you can hardly see the scar.

i'll ask her and get back to you.

good luck!

yes, I have. fairly simply procedure, and was done as an outpatient. the anesthesia was the worst part for me...and you can expect to be sore for days thereafter, so I would imagine that you may want to forego strenuous exercise. definitely speak with your dr. about that. my incision was only about 2-3 inches long, and can barely be seen now. you'll be fine.Chat Icon

eta: TOTALLY agree with the above poster - a sports bra is a MUST!!!!!
