Mid-twenties. My income alone disqualifies us from the rebate. Combined, we more than double the cut off.

I can't believe how many people make over 200! Chat Icon

me neither, but remember there are people of all ages on this site. I am 26 and DH is 29. Luckily this year based on 2007 we qualify for the rebate, but we most likely will make over $150K next year. I think thats pretty good for people as young as we are....but we also have $$$$ student loans!!

Yeah, but we both make less than $75,000, which means we combined make less than $150,000.

Other people work just as hard as we do, even if they don't make as much. I think they are just as impressive and deserving of a pat on the back for their hard work. Chat Icon

We live well beneath our means, investing almost half our take home pay. We work very hard not to get too big for our financial breeches and to invest in the economy. Chat Icon

I won't lie, though, and early retirement would be wonderful.... Chat Icon

We live in NYC. We are in our 30's. We own a co-op, but we still make under 150k. Especially since I stopped working regularly to do the SAHM thing for a while.

On a side note, while I appreciate the $$$ I think this is a terrible idea.

Our gross income before deductions is somewhere around 145k.

So we barely qualify. Chat Icon

Re: Question about income, am I in the minority?

We make less then 150k. We are in the 100-125k range. I wish we made at least 150k but, we only started working at our jobs 3 years ago, so it takes time. So, we will be getting money back. That other post made me think we where poor. At least I know there are others making less then 150k on LI.

You know what it is, the more money you make the more you spend. So, there are familys on here that live on 85k and are fine, and familys that live on 150k and are just making it.

Re: Question about income, am I in the minority?

We qualify for the rebate based on how we did last year. I got laid off in Feb and then on maternity leave until June. Then in Aug, DH decided to start his own law practice. He took two months just preparing, researching, getting office space and advertising.

Re: Question about income, am I in the minority?

If you add me and FH it's now over $100K, but at the moment we're pretty financially independent and I'm helping my mom. Our combined income is in the lower bracket.

At any rate it seems like FH is making big bucks, but he has a lot of debt at the moment. Like debt that is more than my yearly incomeChat Icon

We are in the just under $150k range...own a home...and every time I go to the accountant he tells us to have kids to get a better refund Chat Icon if he only knew Chat Icon Chat Icon With that said, we are still tight after all bills are paid. If we really really had to cut back we would give up our dinners out and movies etc. I know that will change when we have a kid Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well, after reading this thread, I pretty much just want to die. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Dh & I make NOWHERE near the $150k mark. Actually.. umm... we're a bit shy of the $75K mark too. We're young, he's 21 & I'm 20. I only work part-time while going to school, so I know that makes a big difference & I know we'll be making more when I finish school.

Re: Question about income, am I in the minority?

Together, DH and I make about 120K, each of us pulling in about half. We're fortunate that this will go up this year due to a 10K raise I am getting and his practice is really taking off.

For some reason I still feel like we have money troubles. DH just paid off all of his revolving credit and I only have about 6K in credit card debt, but we both have cars, insurance and student loans, plus rent and the usual bills.

I contribute a lot to my TDA plan, which may also be a factor in why I feel like I make a good salary, but have a smallish paycheck.

We're taking our postponed Honeymoon to Italy next week and then after that are going to begin aggressively saving for our own place, which will probably take forever since we want to stay here in Brooklyn.

Don't feel too bad, you are young. My dh and I are 36 and 38 and are making about what you are combined. Age sometimes does not matter.

DH is 32. I'm 31. We qualify for the rebate and I don't see us coming close to the cap any time soon. With that said we own our home, bought last year. In the past year we also are carrying the burden of two homes upstate. Can you say STRESSSSSED to the MAX!
