Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
At what age can they go on them? Most have a minimum height but never say anything about age??
I think I fear my DS (he's 2)getting on the ride and then once it starts hes gonna try to get off or something. Like he wont understand the "rules".

Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
If you feel he won't understand how to act properly, I would't let him go on anything regardles of the height restrictions.
Can you go on a few rides with him (such as ferris wheel, carousel, etc) to see how he behaves on those before you let him go alone?

yes but I think he would fine with me - he's very well behaved etc - its the other rides without me that I worry about - I just worry that he'll decide he doesn't like it and want to get off or something.
just trying to get an idea of what age most people start putting their kids on these kinds of rides

Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
We do it like this- We will take him on anything he's tall enough for and one of us are allowed to accompany. He is allowed to go alone on anything that even if he tried to escape the ride (which has never happened, lol) nothing catastrophic would happen. This is generally a ride like cars or a train that go in a circle. He can absolutely not go alone on something like big birds balloon race by himself (the baskets go in a circle then up like thirty feet) bc if he climbed over mid-ride we would be powerless and a fall would mean death. Believe it or not I know someone who lets an 18 month old go on this ride with a 5 yo and I cringe and like die inside.
eta we started around 2 1/2. imo before that my ds was too unpredictable.
eta again he did not go on anything alone at sesame, yes at Dutch wonderland and adventureland, no at Disney.

I had the same fears as you. We took ds for the first time when he was 2.5 & he had a great time. He was actually frozen during his first few rides- ha! Like he didn't know what was happening or what to do.

Re: Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
At Adventureland, they would stop the ride if he got up. Some of the tamer smaller rides have seatbelts so he won't be able to get off, kwim? ALso many of the rides for a 2 year old mom or dad can ride too, esp at Adventureland so give it a shot! My DD started on rides at about 2.5 and I am a worrier but she always did fine. And if it's something you can ride, you don't have to worry about that.
eta- look at it this way...if you CAN go on, then he should probably not go alone for as long as you need until you trust him. For ex at Adventureland, I always rode Flying Puppies with DD, but after our 4th visit there, I knew she knew the drill and would not get up. If you cannot go on, it's usually something that is very mild and they would stop the ride if he got up.

Re: Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
At 2, we would still ride the rides with DS.
Now we have a 2yo and 4yo. We may let 2yo DS ride some rides solo at Dutch Wonderland but those are the kiddie rides where they don't allow parents. If parents are allowed, we always ride with them.

Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
DS started going on rides alone around 2 1/2. He saw them (cars) and was so excited to go on them. DS stood with him the first time and once we realized he didn't want to get off the ride - even when it was over - we gave him more freedom.

my DD started going on rides on her own at 19 months (kiddie rides of course). I was nervous but she did great. sat there with a smile on her face and waved to us everytime she passed us lol

Re: Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
We let DD ride some little kiddie rides alone at a fair at 2.5 yrs old. Only things like the little cars or train that go in a circle. There was 1 ride that went up in the air a bit- but she was strapped tightly in and the only one on it- if she started crying or something- we would've had the guy stop the ride.
I wouldn't let her on ANYTHING that goes in the air where she isn't strapped TIGHTLY in so she can't move.
I'm planning on taking the kids to Dutch Wonderland this summer and I'll probably let my llittle one go on a few of the milder rides with the older DD (she's 3 now)- other than that- she can go on things that I'm allowed on with her and that's that.

Re: Question about kiddies rides (adventureland, sesame, disney etc)
DS got the idea of rides solo at 2... Or the month before. He still doesn't follow directions almost a year later. Most rides are designed with that in mind and strap or lock the kids in.
