Question about NYS Disability
Does anyone know what percventage of your pay you are granted through disability? Is this something you are automatically entitled to as a tax payer, or is some supplemental insurance required?
TIA!

Re: Question about NYS Disability
I think it's 1/2 your pay with a cap of something like $300 a week.

Re: Question about NYS Disability
Are you talking about short term disability through your employer (to lengthen your maternity leave)? Or long term disability, where you can't work anymore due to an illness/disability.

Short term, definitely.
I *think* it's about 2/3 of your salary. But that is determined by your employer. It has to be a benefit they offer. I'm not 100% positive.

Re: Question about NYS Disability
I was out on short term disability and I was on full salary for 6 weeks. It was through my employer but I don't know exactly how it works.

Re: Question about NYS Disability
STD through NYS is a max of something like $170/week for a certain # of weeks. At least that is what it was for my maternity leave (6 weeks, or 8 weeks if C-section). It is not based on your salary at all. Your employer may offer a separate plan though that is based on your salary.

And it's taxable income.
