Question about OB and ped visits?

Hi girls I hope you don't mind me crashing. DH and I are trying to figure out how much to allocate to our FSA but have no idea what we will need.

About how many times did you go to the OB from when you were 20 weeks pregnant? Also about how many times do you think you went to the pediatrician with DC for about the 6 months? Any medications to consider after birth?

After 20 weeks, I believe it's usually 24, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 weeks.
Ped's visits will depend on your ped. For DS we went 2 days, 2 weeks, 1, - 6 months, 8, 10, 12. If you space out shots, you may have to pay for those visits, and/or sick visits. You need the rest of your prenatals, and if you bf, some people stay on them. Hopefully there shouldn't be any medications for anyone after birth!

Well, the way my insurance works there is no co-pay for OB visits after the initial one for the pregnancy, so check into that.

For ped visits:
3 days after home from the hospital
2 weeks
2 months
3 months
4 months
5 months
6 months
9 months
12 months
15 months
18 months
2 year
3 year

I also took DS and will for DD to the ped for shots at nurse visits to split out the shots.

I had no co-pay, but I also had alot of OB visits when I was pg for a variety of reasons. I'd say more than the norm.

Once you hit 28 weeks you will go every other week. Once you hit I think 34 weeks it will be weekly.

From 20 weeks on, I had visits at 22, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30-39. Plus a couple of trips to L&D thrown in there. And weekly sono's and bio-physicals. But I also had alot of visits prior to 20 weeks as well.

We also had alot of ped visits in the beginning too because of DD's jaundice issues.

the day after she was home
the following 3 days (plus hospital visits)
then once a week until she was back up to her birthweight.

Then 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months ( I don't know when the next one will be since we haven't had our 9 month visit yet)

Every insurance is different however, we have Oxford and I didn't allot anything to FSA for my OB appts. or the ped. visits. After my very first visit to the OB when I was pregnant I never paid for a single thing again, not even a co-pay. Pretty good considering my last 6 weeks of pregnancy I was at the OB 2X/week because I had GD. Also, with the ped. as long as it's a specified well visit (1 week, 1 month, 2 month, etc. etc.) there is no co-pay with our insurance. I only pay for sick visits. Check with your insurance company to see what they cover and how much and then determine what you will need for your FSA.

I went to both a lot!!

I wound up being diagnosed with a low lying placenta around 20 weeks. 2 trips to the hospital and then extra monitoring for about a month at Madonna in addition to the normal OB visits. At around week 28 it moved so nothing extra needed beyond that.

I would call your OB to find out the schedule. Mine is every 4 weeks up to a certain point and then every two weeks. Then towards the end it was every week.

As far as the ped goes, I don't pay for well visits, but we went for the initial visit after birth and then it was every month until 6 months for well visits.

Thanks for the info ladies, I will look into what is covered. I cannot believe how many doctor visits there are between the pregnancy and the baby
