Question about results for ultrascreen & AFP
A friend of mine is 4 weeks pregnant and we were talking about all the tests you have to go for and how nervous she is about going through it all again.
Anyhow, she asked me a question that got me thinking. When they do these tests they give you a range such as 1 in 5,000 chance your baby has down syndrome for example. The chance is obviously very small. But we hear about all these tests that come back showing a baby may have DS or something else and is born perfectly healthy. Obviously a lot of false-positive results. But, have you ever heard of a woman getting good ultrascreen and AFP results yet the baby is born with down syndrome or another chromosomal abnormality?

Re: Question about results for ultrascreen & AFP
a good ultrascreen result is just 1 in a larger number. There always is that "one" person out there somewhere, its just the odds are very low.....
