question about team green

DH and I are on the fence about finding out the sex of the baby. We found out with DS and had his whole nuresery set up before he was born. But in fairness, he didn't start sleeping in his room until he was 3 months anyway. I really just used the comfy chair in there for nursing. If we decide not to find out the sex, I don't want to do anything in the nursery until after the baby is born. Is anyone else going to hold off doing anything at all until after the baby comes home? And I mean doing nothing- no painting, no ordering furniture, etc..

Re: question about team green

We are team green - but our nursery is all setup.... Beach theme... and totally gender neutral.

But you have a very valid point of the baby not even being in the nursery for the first few months - you have plenty of time to put it together after they arrive.

Re: question about team green

I'm not doing a thing this time.

Last time I was Team Green, we painted his room (BM Kittery Point Green) and got furniture. I pre-selected the bedding and ordered it after the fact.

This time, we are dormering our house - and baby will get the new bedroom. It will probably be done before he/she comes, but either way, I'm just going to leave the blank slate and deal with it after. Honestly, I don't plan to go crazy anyway. Maybe I'll think about bedding and paint color options beforehand - but baby will be in my room for a few months anyway and let's face it - a nursery can be knocked out in the a weekend or over time - no rush.

ETS: Another reason why I won't order furniture yet is b/c I'm thinking about potentially just ordering an additional dresser (the 6-drawer) to match Ryan's existing set (he currently has 5-drawer tall dresser). That way, when he gets a "big boy" room I can either get all new for one and give the other both pieces (since I'm assuming as they get older they'll want more furniture). If this one is a girl, I might want to go with a white set.

YUp- us. We have a cradle and that's about it. We will order crib, bedding and furniture after baby is born. ther ewill be plenty of time. My walls are tan colored so if it's a girl we are bringing brown and pink into it. If it's a boy we're bringing brown and sage or blue into it.

Re: question about team green

Well we did the convertible crib for DS and he's now in a full size bed. For this baby we're just going to get a regular crib and a dresser/changing table because the room isn't big enough to fit a full size. So when the baby is older we'll get a twin size trundle bedroom set. The thing is, I know that if it's a girl I want a white crib, and I wouldn't want one for a boy. So I guess we'll probably just clear the room out and prime the walls. everything esle will have to wait

Re: question about team green

We are not doing a nursery, b/c we plan on moving within the next year. We picked out and ordered furniture though, which is gender neutral. We will probably only use the crib and changing table.

Re: question about team green

we have our furniture here already but we havent even started the room yet. we are waiting till the baby is here since the baby will be in our room for the 1st few months we feel we have plenty of time to get the room in order before he/she needs to be moved in there

Re: question about team green

We are team green with DC #2, I don't think we are going to do too much ahead of time. I don't want to order a crib ahead as DS is still in his, if he is ready I will put him in a bed, otherwise we will buy another crib. We are keeping the room the same color regardless if its a boy or girl and I will get sheets/wall stuff after the baby comes so it can boy or girl 'themed'

Re: question about team green

I did stuff before DS arrived, but I definitely didn't need to have everything done. We moved into our house right before he was born. We had all of the rooms painted before we moved in including the nursery. We painted it a neutral color. I ordered the furniture, but it didn't arrive until DS was 1 month old. I had planned to use the PNP for the first few months anyway. DS ended up hating the PNP and the crib so I could've ordered furniture after he was born. I don't see a problem with waiting. Chat Icon

We might just order the furniture for a place to keep the clothes and stuff. But we probably wont do anything else (this of course is all based on the fact that we will buy a bigger house where this baby can actually have his/her own room!)

Re: question about team green

The more I think about it I think we just might do the nursery after the baby is born. I saw a few gender neutral bedding sets but none that I really loved. I know for sure though that we'll probably go with white furnature.
