Question for Alimentum moms
Yesterday my 3 week old DS was put on Alimentum by his pediatrician b/c of a milk-protein allergy. He gave us a few samples but I need to go buy some more. I know it is more $$ than regular formula so my question is: Where is the cheapest place you have found to buy it? Thanks in advance!

Re: Question for Alimentum moms
We found BJ's to be cheapest.
You can also look on Craig's List to see if anyone is selling some. I was freaked out about it at 1st and fought my DH on it but he found someone that sold us 5 cases per month for only $30 a case. The boxes/cases were sealed. The guy was great and eventually started delivering the cases to us. We saved a ton of money this way. He got it through his insurance but sold it bc his DD didn't need it anymore. He made some extra needed money and we saved some.
ETA: DS was on Alimentum from 1 month through 10 months. We just finished completely switching him over to Similac Advance. Also adding that our insurance s-cked big time and wouldn't cover it.

Re: Question for Alimentum moms
Call your insurance company and see if they will cover it. Our ped faxed them a letter of medical necessity and the insurance co gave us some phone numbers of homecare suppliers that ship us a months worth of alimentum every month at no cost to us.

Re: Question for Alimentum moms
BJs is cheapest. You can also use similac coupons there. You should find out wiyh thst level of formula since it is due to allergy if your medical will pick it up. We went from alimentum to nutramigen (same idea but this one is enfamil's line- dd had issues on alimentum still.) Insurance covered it completely.

I agree! DD was on alimentum also! We only had to pay about $25 every month for 6 cases of formula because our insurance covered it.
We went thru Apria Healthcare. Our insurance originally told us it wasn't covered- but when we called Apria, they coordinated everything (called our Ped and got a letter, and then called our insurance company)- and got it covered. It was a godsend because alimentum is very very expensive!
