Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
Sorry to crash but I have a question. Unless I go into labor in the next 24 hours or dilate more than my current 2 cm, I am going in tomorrow night to be induced with cervidal. Any experiences/advices? TIA

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
Good luck!! I was induced with Cervadil, it didn't do much, then Pitocin, it didn't do much either. I wound up with a C. Not all inductions fail though. I hope you have a sucessful one and no matter what, you will get to meet DC very soon!!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced. Started with the cervadil..Went from 1cm -4cm after 11 hours. Then they broke my water and i dilated to 5 cm. Had an epidural... They started the pitocin. Went great. I had an awesome experience with it all. I was going for a vaginal delivery until DS decided to turn while I was pushing and tried to come out of my back. I ended up with an emergency c-section. Baby was fine the whole time....

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
i was induced (w/ cytotect though). Got my first dose at 10pm. couldnt get another dose after that b/c i was contracting too frequently (but didnt feel them at all at that point). Started feeling them at 5am, but was still only 2cm. Got to 3cm at 7am, got the epi, started pitocin and was fully dilated and effaced by 9:30am. Started pushing just after 10am, and DD was born at 10:25 am. It was such a great experience- i hope the same for you!!!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced!
I was 2cm and my BP was high, so they did the cervedil and TBH, it didn't do much. They kept it in 12 hours, I got pitocin and DS was delivered 7 hours later.
I slept for those 7 hours, but that is a whole other story

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I dilated to almost 5 cm without a regular contraction. I was induced with Pitocin only (basically just wanted to regulate contractions). I had no problems with my labor.

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
First off - YAY! And, good luck!!!
I was induced with Jack. 10 days past my due date. I got Cervadil at around 10am. They insert it like a tampon - except I will be honest, it hurts like HELL. You have to keep it inside for 12 hours. There was some cramping which I thought were contractions, but I'll never really know for sure.
At 10 pm they came to check me to see if I was dialated at all. I wasn't. Not even a centimeter. They wanted to do another 12 hours of Cervadil and I demanded a csection. I was already so late and had zero progress.
Good luck!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I had 2 rounds of cervadil (24 hours)- made it to 3 cm and then pitocin for about 4 or 5 hours and then ds was born. All in all it wasn't a bad experience. I just didn't like spending the extra time in the hospital away from my other son.
Good Luck

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced, was 2 cm and 50% beforehand and started on pitocin- worst part was the back labor but that was unrelated to the induction (DD was sunny side up). Once that fun started, I got my epi and slept the rest of the day. Ended up pushing for almost 2 hours, but didn't feel any pain at all. It was totally fine and even with a pretty bad tear, I would've done it again right then and there. It really wasn't too bad at all in the end.

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I didnt have cervadil but I was induced with pitocin. I was in labor for about 11hours and had a great experience. The contractions first started to feel like cramps and it got stronger and stronger. As soon as it got really painful I got the epidural and then they broke my water. Most of the time DH and I were watching TV and on the computer (I even posted my own updates on the pregnancy board haha) When it was time to push, I pushed for 5mins and DS was out. If I had to go through it again, I wouldn't change a thing since I had a great experience being induced

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced with pitocin my water broke the night before at home and no contractions. When I went to the hospital the next morning Dr said to stay home unless I have contracts. I was 2cm when I got there started pitocin to bring them on. few hours later DD was born

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced because of high blood pressure. I didn't need Cervadil because I was already 3 cm dilated. I got the pitocin and the doctor broke my water. I didn't really have contractions, just a lot of pain/pressure. The whole thing took 11 hours from when I got to the hospital to when DD was born.

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
So exciting!!
I was given Pitocin after my water broke, but I was not contracting. 7 hours of labor, an epidural, and 20 minutes of pushing later....I had a Lily to hug and kiss!
My sister didn't go into labor on her own either time (2 kids), so they gave her Cerdavil and Pitocin and she progressed very quickly......too quickly for an epidural! SO she gave birth both times with no paid meds!!
Good luck!!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced. 2 rounds of Cervadil (each round is 12 hours) and it really did nothing. Then, started on Pitocin. Again, nothing and we did a C after 42 hours and DD starting to not like the meds. Some people either take to the meds well and some don't and will need the c section. Hope you have an easy labor!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
i had 2 rounds of cervidil and it did nothing! i ended up having a c-section. the only uncomfortable thing about the cervidil is putting it in and taking it out. not fun. but hopefully it works for you!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I had a great experience with being induced. I was give pitocin at midnight and then by 10:30 the next morning, my water broke and I progressed quickly for a first time delivery. I was induced for pre eclampsia though.
Why do they want to induce you?

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced w/ Cervadil for 12 hours, then Pitocin for 20 or so...Then I was in labor for 15 hours, pushed for 7, DS needed to be vacuumed out b/c he was stuck behind my pubic bone. He was in the NICU for a while due to what they called the "traumatic birth" , but we're both fine now! (other than incontenance every time I sneeze or laugh! )

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
Induced with both of my kids. Cervadil for my first overnight. My kids flew out in 5 and 3 pushes respectively. I wish you the same or better
PS Don't be afraid to ask for your epi early

same here, I never dialated more than a fingertip on pitocin so I had a c-section

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced with cervadil. Didn't hurt at all except it gave me HORRIBLE contractions!!! Every min 3 and 4 on top of eachother!!! Everyone's body will deal with it differently as you can see from the posts. Good luck!! You will get thru it!!

Re: Question for BTDT moms: if you were induced
I was induced 6 days late, but just with Pitocin. I think I might have been about 2 1/2 to 3cm dilated. I labored for 11 hours. First 5 I didn't need the epidural. Then I really needed it. I pushed for 45 minutes and he was out. Don't wait on the epi - remember once you request it it takes them a little bit to get the anesthesiologist in there. Good luck!
