Question for EBF moms re: bottle nipples
Did you switch up to the next nipple level at the recommended age on the nipple? My son is 3 months and the last 2 times he had a bottle of bm, he kind of reluctantly took it, playing around with the nipple for a bit first- and he was DEFINITELY hungry when it was given to him. He has never had a problem with bottles. We introduced it around 2-3 weeks, and he gets at least one or two bottles a week. Does it sound like he might be ready for Level 2 nipples on the bottle? I'm worried about switching to a faster flow though and then having him get frustrated with the flow from my breast, because that flow never changes, right? Confused- can any help??

Whats the reason to switch? With only two bottles a week I wouldn't worry too much about him not loving the bottle. If you are worried, stick with what is working.

I stayed with level 1 nipples the whole year I nursed/pumped for both kids! I def didnt want them to ever think the bottle was easier bec then they might prefer it!

My concern was that he was not thrilled with the Level 1 anymore, and that he was going to start refusing a bottle. There are times each week that he has to take a bottle because I'm not home, and I wanted to make sure he was ok with it. Suddenly he was showing signs of not being into the bottle anymore, so I thought maybe it was a nipple flow issue.

That's what I'm afraid of! I always thought of just sticking with Level 1 the whole time I'm nursing, but I thought maybe this was a sign that he needed to move up, but maybe not!

I did this too although I may have gone up to level 2 at the very end. DS never seemed bothered by using a slow flow nipple.
