Question for ladies 40 and over that did IVF
How did you decide how many eggs to transfer? Did you go with your RE recommendation or with your feelings???
Pending we have them, we chose to transfer 3 for this next cycle, but now I'm thinking we should've said 4. I wonder if that can be changed once we know how many we actually get at retrieval.

Question for ladies 40 and over that did IVF
Is this your first IVF? I was 38 but we transferred 2 and got twins! Dr T didn't recommend putting back more than 2 the first time bc you never know what will stick. I wasn't ok wih selective reduction if we got 3+ do I didn't risk it. I think a triplet pregnancy would've been too risky for me. I had a difficult enough time with twins. If you've had a lot of failed IVFs previously, that might change things. Could also depend on the grade of the embryos.

Question for ladies 40 and over that did IVF
I was two weeks shy of my 39th birthday. We already had one failed IVF. 5 failed IUIs. We transferred three. I am pregnant with twins. They were the only embryos that survived the thaw.

You can decide the morning of he many you want to transfer. Be prepared for what ever you transfer to take though. In fact, maybe even more. I know someone who transferred 2. One spilt and now she has triplet boys (2 identical and 1 more).

I am 40 and have two failed IVFs starting third hopefully way cycle. One of my cycles I put back three per RE recommendation but they were slow growing. BFN. I will go with whatever RE says- I know it's risky but after failed IVFs you want to try to improve odds.

Re: Question for ladies 40 and over that did IVF
Thanks ladies this is my 2nd IVF. The first one we transferred 4 bc we only got 4 embryos and didn't want to freeze just 1. In that cycle, 1 took but only for a month then had a mc. If I know you can change the # right before then I feel better ...we want to see how many we get. I always look at this as "glass half empty" and think none will take but there's always a possibility....I hope I'm wrong this time!
