Question for IVF Ladies...
We are expecting our 1st thanks to a successful IVF attempt in April. I know I am getting ahead of myself but I am already thinking ahead to #2.
We did IVF due to a blocked tube and a large-ish fibroid. Should I assume I would need to do IVF again to have #2? How long would I need to wait between having #1 and starting for #2?
Any thoughts, input, etc. would be much appreciated....
TIA! Patricia

Re: Question for IVF Ladies...
You're not alone! We were thinking of #2 from the very start as well.
I don't think there is really a clear cut answer, as I know people who went through IVF and got pregnant again on their own.
I have 6 embies on ice and would like to do a FET in October, which would mean going back to the RE Aug/Sept sometime. will be 8 months by Oct. I do not plan on going back on any type of birth control though after the baby is born, and if I get pregnant on our own, then great, if not, back to the RE we'll go.

Re: Question for IVF Ladies...
I'm already thinking about #3 For us, though, it really all depends on the temperment of baby #2 - if (s)he is anything like my fiesty, collicky, stubborn, strong-willed, no sleep little girl, we'll just have to wait a little while to recover fully. If (s)he is a sweet, even tempered sleepy little baby, I think I'll go back for a consultation with my RE about those little frozen embryos we have at about 5-6 months post-partum.

Re: Question for IVF Ladies...
Thanks Ladies for your responses. I feel like time is working against us as I just turned 39 and we do not have any frozen embies. I am hoping to do an IVF cycle before I turn 40 which will be in November. Sound reasonable or crazy?

That would be about 6-7 months post-partum? I think that's reasonable, unless you have any unexpected complications from your delivery.

I agree. I think it sounds reasonable as well. Maybe we'll be cycle buddies again!

Re: Question for IVF Ladies...
You'd be surprised what a first pregnancy can do to your fertility! We tried unsuccessfully for 2 years with DC #1 (4 IUI's, 3 IVF's). We actually got pregnant after going on hiatus from all the infertility mess with acupuncture. It took 2 months. Long story short----we started trying for DC #2 thinking that it would be a long road again. We were pregnant within 2 months, totally on our own. You never know!

THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT! I am an optimistic person by nature but really appreciated you sharing your story.
