Question for IVF Ladies...**Updated***

Did you all hold out until your first beta or did you cave in and POAS? If you POAS, was it accurate and how many days past transfer did you do it? My first beta is on Wed and I am trying hard not to give into my urge. I would be 9 days past a 3 day transfer. Would a HPT even be accurate at this point? I did POAS last week and it was negative so I think the HCG is out of my system.

***Update 6/23*** Well I POAS this morning and it was positive. The line was a little light but clearly visable. I am so happy but still very guarded. Getting pregnant hasn't been my issue, its staying pregnant. Hopefully all of the issues that are being treated by Dr. B will make this a healthy pregnancy that sticks. Any prayers you can spare are greatly appreciated.

Sometimes I would POAS and sometimes not.......it depended on if I had any symptoms or not...........

10 days past transfer is usually safe......but if it's negative, it doesn't necessarily mean you are out.

I think getting that call from the RE is worse than seeing it for myself so I tested before my beta, at 8dp3dt. I got a very, very strong dark positive at that point, and I took the test at night.

I am horrible and POAS like a maniac!! I was a 3dt and tested 6dp3dt to see if the HCG was gone. And, I proceeded to POAS everyday, twice a day until beta. At first, it was depressing (they were all negative), but I'm SO glad I knew that the cycle didn't work. I was prepared for the phone call and could make plans for round #2.

I agree. I think I would've had a stroke waiting for the call if I hadn;t known the answer already. I tested 11dp3dt and got a faint positive- which was accurate. (not FMU)

I always tested before the beta.

For my IVF, I tested 5dp5dt, 7dp5dt and 8dp5dt and all were BFN - beta was also negative.

For my first FET, I tested 4dp5dt, 5dp5dt, 7dp5dt, and 10dp5dt - all BFN and beta was negative.

For my second FET, I tested 6dp5dt and got positives with line and digital tests.

I POAS the day of my beta, which was actually 8dp5dt. BUT, my beta was EXTREMELY LOW. And the FRER picked it up...but I thought chemical for sure and I was pg with twins...so sometimes you can have a low beta...not get it picked up on a FRER and still have a healthy pregnancy.

Yes, I had an addiction.

With all of my IVF's, I tested the HCG out of my system with cheapo dollar store tests. With my son and with this pregnancy, I got positives at 6dp 3dt!!!

I got another BFP in February 2008 and that was later at, I think, 9dp 3dt.

I had 2 more cycles in between that I spent a fortune on tests that were all negative but, it helped me be prepared for that phone call.

Thanks ladies. I think I will POAS tomorrow and see what happens. I am feeling like this didn't work (absolutely no symptoms) and I want to prepare myself for the let down if I am right.

I waited until 7dp5dt and got a "medium" positive with FMU - not super light but not dark.

I didn't have any symptoms either. Good luck!

I caved and tested at 7dp3dt. I got a BFP and then was a maniac and POAS every day to make sure it was getting darker. When I spoke with the nurse, she told me to step away from the tests! My beta was 4 days after I tested positive.

I will say that I only tested early because I "knew" I was pg. It's very hard to explain, but my gut told me I was which is why I tested. I think that if I wasn't feeling anything, I probably would have held out a few more days but still would have tested before my beta.

I tested 9dp5dt - the night before my beta and got a positive and beta was a positive also (40).

I wanted to be prepared for the call from the doctor.

I did not POAS my first IVF.

BFN.

I PdOAS my 2nd IVF the day before my first Beta.

BFP.

I always wanted the control over the result in only my hands, and the negative or positive emotions to come alone, so I always tested at home and a LOT....

I got a faint BFP 5dp3dt...and darker each time.

I always tested at 8dpo and on.
