Question for Mom who have a 2nd Child (with a 2 year gap or more)

My hubby and I want another child, but now that our son is 2, everything seems so easy. We will have another, but we think about the teething, the diaper changing, the doctor visits, etc. and it all just seems so exhausting to do it all over again. Is everything easier the second time around. I think it might be only because with the second one you have your older child in the mix, and i'm thinking maybe is just feels different. Any input?

DS was born when DD turned two. He is now 15 months and its really fun. He now walks and interacts with DD so they occupy each other. I think of my niece who is an only child and yes, their lifestyle is easier and they have more freedom but to see my DD and DS interact and enjoy each other, it makes me wish I was ten years younger and could have two more.

My son is 4 and we have a 12 week old infant, the thing that keeps me going through the night wakings etc is that this only lasts for a relatively short period, a year is a short period of time in the grand scheme of things.

It is harder-but that's because you are doing all those things with a toddler in the mix.

But, it's all worth it and you get back into the swing of things pretty quickly.

We are deciding whether to try for a 3rd and I'm thinking about how hard it will be to do all of those things with 2 other kids running around. I just have to remember that we will get with it again (if we decide to go for it).

I had the same feelings as you. And with DD being 2.5 years old, we are on such a good routine. DD sleeps great, she's getting more independent, and DH and I have the evenings to ourselves.

But, I know that the newborn days will not last forever. We'll get through it and be on a routine again at some point. At the end of the day, I always knew I wanted at least 2 if not 3 kids....so I am trying to keep my thoughts focused on that until #2 arrives at the end of the year!

We have a 7 1/2 year gap, so it was a big adjustment. We tried for soooo long to have another though, so I never looked at the starting over as negative. I had alot of freedom With DD#1 in elementary school, so in that way, it was a huge change. In some ways it is tough, But all in all, alot easier this time around

DD#2 was born 5 weeks after DD#1 turned 2. DD#1 is very independent and the transition was pretty easy. I'm not going to say the first few weeks were easy, but once we got in a routine, sort of, it was much better. The only thing that would make it easier was if DD#1 was potty trained, but maybe we'll work on that this summer or so.
