Question for moms of boys....when did they start sleeping through the night?

I find my DS a much worse sleeper at night. He does sleep, dont get me wrong but I am waiting for that magical sleep through the night moment.

I know this question sounds a bit weird because I am asking about boys, but since I have been on parenting it seems as though the boys have a rougher time sleeping through the night. And I dont feel as though sleep begets sleep because when RJ is up for longer period of time during the day he will give a longer strech of sleep.

DD starting sleeping 10 hours at 9 weeks. DS is 2 1/2 months.

He started sleeping through the night at 7-8 weeks, when he moved into this own room. He was a horrible napper (2 times at 20 minutes each Chat Icon )

Re: Question for moms of boys....when did they start sleeping through the night?

My DD and DS both started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old. Not sure if it made a differece that I had big babies who ate alot. My DD was 9 lbs 10 oz at birth and my DS was 9 lbs at birth. They were both up to about 5 oz a feeding at that point.

Yup same here.

Actually right before i went back to work, he started STTN. So about 11 weeks old i think. Then my in laws started watching him and they didn't like to let him nap and it all went down, down, DOWN hill from there. Chat Icon

We've had to do quite a bit of sleep training to get him STTN again.

How are his naps? how many? how long?

I have always wondered about this. My DD was born 9 lbs 14 oz. She hated eating, but at 2 1/2 months she was already 12 pounds.

My DS loves eating and wonder if thats the problem. He was born 7 13 and at the time he left the hospital was 7 7.

Last week at his 2 1/2 month visit he was 11 5. He gained much more than my DD but she was still bigger at this age.

He napped yesterday for 2 hours in the morning and 3 in the late afternoon. He has to sleep in the swing though because he cannot fall asleep and stay asleep in the bassinette during the day. His sister is way to loud and the swing soothes him more. Last night he had a bottle around 830. DH put him in around 930 and he was up at 115. I fed him and he was back to bed by 2 then up at 6 again.

ETA: When did he eventually start STTN again after your inlaws screwed everything up.

DS started to STTN at about 5 months. Before that, he would wake up once a night to eat and then go back to sleep.

Re: Question for moms of boys....when did they start sleeping through the night?

DS started sleeping through the night (10pm-7am) at 10 weeks old. He got progressively better once he went into daycare when I went back to work (DS was 11 weeks old when I went back). So, he started sleeping from 8pm-7am at around 14 weeks. This is his current schedule. If I let him sleep longer, he will wake on his own between 7:20 and 8:00

ETA: He had some rough nights when he went through some massive growth spurts and teething.

At about 3 1/2 months and then he regressed at 4 1/2 and started waking 2-3x a night again, and at 5 months we did CIO and within a week he was STTN again and has been ever since.

Ryan started STTN when we transitioned him to his crib at 7 months. It was a wonderful night!

11 weeks. He has done it pretty consistently since then. At that age he was also taking 3-4 naps a day.

How old is ds again? have you been able to put him down before 9:30 for the night? I think around 10-11 weeks, ds was going to bed around 6:30pm and waking up at 6am for the day. So maybe he needs more sleep at night?

To answer your question, he started STTN around 11 months. Chat Icon But it's still not 100% consistent for the above mentioned reasoning. Chat Icon

Re: Question for moms of boys....when did they start sleeping through the night?

I don't know what STTN is, everyone is different. Websites say 7 hour stretches, but on here it seems its like 11-12 hours is STTN.

DS sleeps from 7 pm to 4-5 am. Gets his bottle, then sleeps till 7:30.

He's been doing this since 5 1/2 months when we put him in his own room/crib.

ETA: I meant 3-4 am, not 4-5 am.

Re: Question for moms of boys....when did they start sleeping through the night?

DS is almost 7 months old and I'm still waiting. He STTN once at 6 months, but hasn't done it since. He has had longer stretches though the last month or so.
