Question for moms of girls with curly hair
I am absolutely petrified to cut DD's hair. I am so afraid that once we cut it she will lose all her curls. She has never gotten a haircut and is in desperate need of one. She can never wear her hair down.
I just wanted to know if this happened to any of your DDs. Did they lose their curls when they got their first haircut? Thank!

Re: Question for moms of girls with curly hair
I can't help you but wanted to say DD had no hair at all until 14 months & now at 2 years, she has pretty little blond curls & I too fear they'll disappear after her haircut, so we're putting it off as long as possible.

Re: Question for moms of girls with curly hair
I have curly hair and my girls take after me so no matter how many hair cuts, the curls stay.

Re: Question for moms of girls with curly hair
I don't have a girl but I have a boy with curly hair and i was worried, especially since the longer it got it was mostly curly on the ends - everyone said it was going to go away. Finally at 18 months I couldn't wait anymore - everyone thought he was a girl. Well, he has now had 3 haircuts (he is just about 23 months) and his hair is a curly as ever - in fact, every time I cut it gets curlier b/c when it is longer it gets flattened out throughout the day - the shorter it is it is more curly. So you never know!
ETA: i have curly hair myself - not sureif that makes a diff.

Re: Question for moms of girls with curly hair
I have stick straight hair and so does DH so when DD had curls my hairdresser said for sure they'd fall out with her first cut. So we really postponed cutting it. I finally gave in and low and behold it's still curly so you might be ok. It's a risk but in our case they didn't fall out. She's only two hair cuts in total so far so I haven't really pushed my luck.
