Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
The pain with the Pitocin was horrible -- I only got some relief once they gave me the epidural....... and I still ended up with ac-section

oh dear....they're starting the cervidil on me on june 3rd and then on the 4th - the pitocin starts....
I had pitocin too and the GOOD thing about it is that you can get the epi whenever you want
I had some bad contractions for a few hours but once I got that epi, it was a breeze
my OB actually did my epi first and then the pitocin, so I slept on and off until I reached 10cm. I was very happy about that!

Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
Pitocin induced contractions hurt 1000x worse than natural ones. The worst of my natural contractions didn't even come close to pitocin ones.

I had Pitocin, and the contractions were excrutiating, but I only had like 5 of them before I was screaming for the epi!

Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
The night before I was induced I received cervidil because I was not dilating and the next morning the pitocin would start. I was being induced for saftey reasons because DD had a 2 vessel cord in her umbilical cord.
I went from not feeling any contraction pain whats so ever to feeling them every 2-5 mins apart. With that happening DD heartrate kept dropping alittle and the doctors were debating whether to do a c- section due to that. WIth the pain I was in, I was ready to jump out a window or pull my hair out. I tried to focous on a focal point which did not help, I told both my mom and DH to get the hell out of my face. I was trying to climb out of my bed. Thats how much pain I was in.
After begging for drugs and finally being able to get a epi at 4 or 5 cm, within an hour I was fully dilated and ready to push her out. I felt nothing and the delievery part was great.
For me that drug brought on the contractions really strong, and I went from zero pain to ALOT. Thats my experience with Pitocin. HTH

Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
I have no idea if it is worse than non-pitocin contractions but it was bad. Really bad.

Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
I was induced with pitocin and then they upped the dose again and I was fine UNTIL they broke my water... that was when I was asking for the eipdural. I think the pain would have been the same if I was induced or not.

Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
I was induced with pitocin. The contrqactions were bearable until the doctor broke my water. Then, they were very painful. I asked for the epidural 4 hours after my water broke. I also ended up having back labor, which the epidural has no effect on. That was really awful.

Re: question for those induced with pitocin...
I had 2 natural induced labors and 1 artifically induced labor (potocin through iv)
The pain was the exact same for me. Only difference for me was laboring at home vs being stuck at the hospital for the whole process. I'd rather labor at home anyday.
