Question regarding annual breast exams?
Just wondering what other women feel about their breast exams. I was just at the gyno a month ago and he barely applied any pressure. Over the weekend in the shower I did an exam on myself and found a pea-size lump! If I had applied the amount of pressure he did, I would not have found it. I have never had a lump before and not sure what is normal and what is not, so I am a little concerned. I also have my AF and am BF. Are lumps deeper down or more towards the surface? I had a different gyno years ago and could swear she applied more pressure. So I guess I am wondering what all your exams are like and if I should be concerned about my doctor?

Lumps can be located in any area.
My doctor does apply some pressure. Where are you in terms of your cycle? I would check after you get your period to see if there was a change.
If there isn't, it's certainly worth the call & peace of mind.

Re: Question regarding annual breast exams?
If you're concerned, definitely get it checked out. My dr. always applied significant pressure. I actually had a lump that she felt, and had to be removed - and I only finally felt it myself the day before the surgery.
Mine was small and hard, and once I felt it I knew it didn't belong. There's a possibility yours could be related to AF, but if you're worried, get it checked. It will at leat save yourself worries later on, even if (and hopefully!) it turns out to be nothing.
