Question to those who have tried the Ferber method-what to do when they wake up in the middle of the night....
We started the Ferber method last night and he did pretty good with it. We did shorter intervals though, I waited three minutes went in, gave him his binky and just spoke softly in his ear and he would calm down. My DH tried the next round, but he would only calm down if I went in. It took about an hour of this before he finally fell asleep. He slept until 4, which is great for him, but then when he woke up I wasn't sure what to do. Usually when he wakes in the middle of the night I run in and give him the binky and he falls right back to sleep, well thats not what I did last night. I let him cry for a few minutes and then went in and gave him the binky, but he was NOT going back to sleep. I ended up having to give him a bottle Are you only supposed to do the intervals for the initial going to sleep?

I also did it in the middle of the night. I started at 5 minutes, then 8, then 11. In the middle of the night I would go in after 5 minutes give him his binky and then rub his back, I am not in there any longer than 1 minute. Then if that doesnt work I wait another 8 minutes. I stopped giving nighttime bottles at 5 months.
