Questions about miscarriage
I'm a regular poster. Too many lurkers I'm my life to use my regular name.
I have been on a particular birth control pill for about 8 months now. I haven't gotten a period on this BCP since the second month. Maybe an occasional spot to let me know my period was due. Nothing major. This month, I have had a full fledged period going on 7 days. My cramps are unbelievable. Not all day long though. They come and go throughout the day making me nauseous. Morning is the worst time. Sometimes rectal pressure. Definitely some clots, but nothing too big (sorry, tmi).
I take my pill religiously every morning. One day this month I took it in the afternoon rather than the morning. Not sure if that made a difference. Last month I started the new pill pack a day late becuse I was away and forgot to get it at the pharmacy.
I've read online and on here that some people miscarry and have the same symptoms. Bleeding, clots and cramping. My periods tended to be very long, which is why I started a new BCP. Usually 7-10 days. But, even before, I never had full fledged bleeding for a week. It would be bad the first 3-4 days then tapper off for the rest of the week. I'm concerned that maybe I may have been pregnant but didnt know becuse I don't get a period anymore. I know I should call the dr but I don't want to make myself look stupid and have them tell me it's just my period. Then again, who cares if I look stupid? It's my health and I am concerned. I am also away visiting family this weekend and won't be back until Sunday. I figured if I'm still bleeding I'll go to the dr Monday.
If I took a pregnancy test after the bleeding started, would it come up positive on a test? Wouldn't beta levels need to be at a certain level to test positive? I've never miscarried before, so that's why I'm asking. Any advice you can give would be helpful.

Questions about miscarriage
Honestly, you might still test positive, but my guess is it's just an off cycle. Is the pill you are on designed to STOP your period? Because that is the part I would be worried about. Even seasonal you are supposed to get it 4 times a year. I would see your doc and change pills, you should really not be going 8 months without a period.

The side effect of this pill is that your period is either super light or it disappears all together. My dr told me this and I've talked to several woman on the same pill with the same side effect. I took a pregnancy test on Friday and it was negative. I had already been bleeding for 5 days at that point. I'm thinking its my period. But, I'm a week out and still bleeding.

Re: Questions about miscarriage
When I was getting married, I didn't want to get my period on my honeymoon so I skipped the placebos in the pack I was currently using and went right onto a new pack. When I did get to the placebos on the 2nd pack, my period was soooo much heavier than it had ever been before. I had never passed clots ever in my life and they were there. When I spoke to the Dr. he had said it was because of the larger build up of lining in my stomach that needed to shed since I had made the time between my periods longer. I always have really bad cramping and this was a while ago so I'm not sure if I experienced worse cramps but it is possible. Just wanted to share since your story sounds similar.
